...I get this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach, like...I just want to punch them in groin region.

I am not sure why. It didn't start tell second year of college. I think it's because every person I've ever met who has owned a Mac, I have disliked intensely. It has nothing to do with the Mac, just other things.

Of course, as any intelligent person knows, correlation does not imply causation. But this time, does it? Anyone else ever have this problem?

As someone that was raised on Mac's and latter moved to the PC, I'm the opposite of most. My mother is one of the like 4 people in the world that actually use their Macs for graphic design. She started building websites with my father back in the early to mid 1990's, when you could actually make money building websites. I would sit there and watch them build a site on their Macs, my father doing the HTML and my mother doing the graphics on their macs only to see them double check their work on our lone PC and see that half of the stuff they did, did not lay out the same.

My father passed away but my mother has kept plugging away on Macs, she is now the proud owner of 2 macbook pros, a 24" iMac and 2 30" Apple cinema displays. That's well over $10,000 in mac gear, all less than 2 years old. However, my $800 Frankenstein PC smokes anything she has and that's the problem I have with Mac. You pay out the ass for a mac and unless you buy it right after Apple updates their line, your already using outdated hardware.

I just bought a $429 Gateway laptop from Best Buy and i'm willing to bet it would smoke either of her $2,500 macbook pro's in a photoshop benchmark test.

How old are the Macbook Pro's and how on earth do you benchmark photoshop?

How fast you can load images from the disk into RAM?

It stands to figure that the newest hardware is going to perform better than the older hardware.

These guys

She has both the 2.16GHz and 2.33GHz versions. The 2.33GHz was upgraded to 3GB of RAM and the 2.16GHz version was upgraded to 2GB of RAM.

Photoshop benchmarking is a standard benchmarking tool used in almost every CPU comparison.

Of course newer hardware will perform better then old hardware, that's pretty much my exact point. Apple only does upgrades to their line every so often, whereas PC's are produced by any number of companies that have to compete with each other in both cost and performance. While Apple laptops have shown to have better than average reliability ratings, they are not #1, I believe that title belongs to Asus. You just don't ever get what you pay for.

I love the people that still say: "Macs are good for graphics." First of all, since macs basically use the same hardware as pc's that's really not true. And before apple quit using proprietary hardware, the mac hardware was falling so far behind that of the PC, you could really make the argument that the mac was WORSE at graphics.

This coming from a graphic artist.

Nope, a hippy or an artist is much more likely to use a PC :P Reason is that all their extra money goes into buying pot or booze, if they ever have any, so they simply can't afford buying a Mac. I live in what seems to be the hippy capital of United States and trust me they all come armed with cheap, crappy PCs.

I bought a Mac, honestly I'm not completely sure why, I guess I wanted to try something different.

I tried to spend a few minutes on a mac forums though, I wanted to gouge my eyes out.

But yes I dunno what the **** people talk about. So far my Mac has frozen up a few times and needed a hard reboot. I also don't quite get what people mean when they are "better" for graphics/video editing.

In all honesty, it isn't so much Macusers in general as it is Apple itself and their advertising campaign, that passed false advertisement years ago, which leads to the image problem for both sides. It's when Mac fanboys tend to parrot whatever claims the advertisements try to make instead of well thought out arguements based on the strengths of boths sides (superior build quality, stability at the cost of compatibility for Apple and performance/customisation options and compatibility at the cost of stability for PC) that the stereotypes leap out. Over the years Apple went from claiming "Macs are immune to viruses and never freeze" (ever seen a Mac community when a virus hits? it's like a disaster movie Laughing) to "Macs are faster and have bigger monitors then PCs" (they use the same parts Rolling Eyes). Hell their latest advertisement campaign is basically "Why even try out Windows 7, which will obviously suck because anything Windows sucks, when you can just buy a whole new computer instead!" which screams 'snob' and 'elitest' in the current economy.
