I have to admit, I'm surprised and confused by this feature. I didn't know there was a "need" for it.

I think its to get more people to play the game... think about this!

* You're a girl, you suddenly hear another girl on voice! You think oh, wow, I'm not the only one!

* Men/Boys who hear "girls" on voice, think "Woah! This game has girls! I better tell all my buddies and friend girls..."

YARRRR!!

It was removed they updated the patch notes a day or so ago, some kind of problem with it so it's been delayed.

There was a last minute problem with deploying the Voice Fonts feature. It should make its way to TQ very soon though.

Is this awesum feature still on its way?

I would very much like to see its implementation, I have a reputation to keep up, currently my voice totally destroys this.

I want those voicefonts so badly, it's the main thing I like about this patch :P. I know there's people telling CCP that they're waisting their time, but I think it's the best idea ever. I guess RP'ers will be very exited about this aswell. Gogo CCP<3

Edit: I just read something about this feature not being added just yet Sad? That makes me a sad panda... if so Sad.

I think this may stop some corps, if not quite a few, from using EV, even if it developed as an external client, since they have enough problems with spies and really don't need the hassle of having to deal with people changing their voices.

Is there an option for someone to disable voice fonts? One of the key reasons to develop an external EV client would be for fleets, if there is no option to disable the fonts then there would be little uptake from those currently using Vent/TS.

In factional warfare, or RvB, people use the in-game voicechat all the time. As you can't just invite everybody to your ventrilo server, that would be too much of a hassle. And tbh, in-game voicechat > teamspeak. Ventrilo is still superior though I think. (Or x-fire voice chat) Skype kinda sucks aswell quality wise. Anyhow, RP wise those voice fonds are a great addition... I understand that it can come in handy for spies, but you can always ask somebody to speak in there normal voice if you suspect something.

I don't think that is much of a problem. Not that many use EV anyway and spies can come up with all kinds of reasons and excuses why he isn't able to talk or has a odd voice. Not to mention I can steal from you and don't mind talking with my real voice, so you can't rely on voice recognition anyway. It might even be a reason for RP corps to encourage the use of EV.

When I read the patch notes, I wasn't sure if it was just a joke, or a real Voice Changer.

How about making it more grand ? Like, Evoice - Voice Changer for EvE or something like that ?

Would kill to use this feature outsite of eve, i.e Vent or TS, as it's more common then Eve Voice ;)

Oh yeah, RP wise it's a great addition and I can see it being of use if Incarna ever comes around. There have been requests for EV to be made into an external system as usable as Vent that you don't lose access to if your client crashes and I'd like to see that happen as it would make EV a more usable option for a lot of people, you can fire up your corp chat or whatever during downtime or before you log in to the game.

Really I'd just prefer a way for the channel admin to be able to disable the voice fonts so you have the choice. Personally I have no need of them in my day to day game, even if I used EV.

Edit: And I'm really glad this can't be used in Vent, nothing particularly against it if you want to use it, but I prefer to hear people's real voices.

But what i would like to know is, can this voice change be used to sound more like in a space ship? When you hear the voices in the trailer you know what i mean. Really... if you only can make your voice sound like a girl or child now, i would say thats a waste of ressouces which should have gone into more important areas.

As always, we very much like to have your opinions and ideas on these. Go to Singularity and try them out, make a thread and let us know what you think.

A robot voicefont would be cool .. make it happen soon.

Have tried it out. Its actually quite fun. Male to Female 2 is scarily good. If i didn't know it was a guy i was speaking to i would have started to chat them up!!!!

You have GOT to be kidding, did they really waste time on bull**** like that? I'd think there'd be more important issues to work on.

Oh, the same cries again Very Happy
I think voice fonts are just for amusement, not really usable - but at the same time I think sound programmer would not go for ship balancing or something. He can only make it worse Smile

what you didn't hear? in software programming if you are a developer you work on EVERYTHING. No one has a specialty they just like jump in and start hacking to **** anything they can cause they like are developers

I hate people who have no understanding whatsoever about software development yet they want to cry fowl anytime a feature comes through that isn't pleasing to them. The developers should work on coming up with a means of removing these players from the game.

eve voice has been broken for me since dominion. It used to work perfect but now it cuts out my sound completely unless i hit excape after someone has talked then it seems to magically come back

>.<

I even have the option to mute sound while someone is talking off.

CrazyHobo Here, requesting "special" voice fonts;

Ever wanted to express your opinion that you are being lured into a trap?
-Admiral Akbar voice font, to give your "IT'S A TRAP" moments a bit more emphasis

Going out alone as a scout to find the way ahead? Inform your fleetmates that you plan to return safely with...
-The Terminator Voice font. I'll be Back.

And so forth...

Or in fact, screw the voice fonts just have buttons to play the quotes over eve voice.

It's um... interesting. Not exactly on my personal list of features to include in EvE, but couldn't hurt I guess.

Been playing around with all of the different voices:
Male to Female font makes me sound like a prepubescent 12 year old boy.
Female to Male makes me sound like Kevin Grevioux.

Maybe this feature was introduced because all Brits and Aussies sound alike in tone and inflection Twisted Evil

this was intended as a feature of incarna. so they are adding it in now. woot. but it doesnt appear to quite work. was playing with it and none of the voice fonts did much other then make me sound like a robot with a really deep voice...
