i have an amarr alt who doesnt have any BS skills and all his weapon skills are in energy weapons. i wonder if it is possible to do Lv4 missions with the legion? i have looked at battleclinic but the only mission setups there are w missiles. is it just not advisable to take the legion with something different than missiles? |

Edited by: Mike712 on 28/11/2009 21:39:46 A setup like this will be highly efficient at level 4 misions:
[Legion, Lv4 Legion] Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Corelum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner Large Capacitor Battery II Cap Recharger II True Sansha Stasis Webifier
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector Legion Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Legion Engineering - Power Core Multiplier Legion Offensive - Liquid Crystal Magnifiers Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Cap stable 500 DPS+ tank.
654 DPS with AN Multi at 15km
521 DPS with scorch at 34km
You can get away with a cheaper armor rep if you want as a large portion of your tank will come from speed and sig radius, just remember if you do cheap out on the tank, keep up your transversal velocity and anything webbing you should be dealt with ASAP.
Edit, you're right there aren't any good level 4 fits for the legion on battleclinic I'll upload this one, don't forget to go +1 if you like it :)

Edited by: Mike712 on 28/11/2009 21:16:00 Yes it's not exactly paladin DPS but if you want paladin DPS you are going to have to get a paladin, or a baddon or a NM, and yes you've stumbled ever so elegantly onto a valid point, battleships are just better than t3's in misisons. The only reason you would ever use a t3 is because it's more interesting(which I don't personally believe in as imo misisons should be a means to an end).
Yeh, so get a paladin, or a nightmare...
By highly efficient I meant in terms of a t3, because there are some pretty lousy t3s around I know, I saw a t1 fit tengu not so long ago. |

you could do it, but I wouldn't
hell just doing bs 4, large energy turret 4 and getting a beam abaddon seems like a better idea. damage is about the same. little less point blank, but beats scorch with navy multi and comparable ranges. and a 75m3 drone bay. |

a legion fit with a slight shift towards the tank
[Legion, New Setup 1] Centum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II 10MN Afterburner II Stasis Webifier II
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Ancillary Current Router I Medium Nanobot Accelerator II
Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector Legion Electronics - Tactical Targeting Network Legion Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Legion Offensive - Liquid Crystal Magnifiers Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
dps - 574 with AN multi tank - roughly 776 with current hardeners against blood/sansha
a Legion is DEFINETLY a viable option for lvl 4's considering its increased speed, agility, and much smaller sig. its power isnt quite that of a paladin, but its close. plus, the fun factor is much higher. |

It is far from close to a paladin, mate. 800 turret dps at 40km is far superior to 15km range with 572 .. you have like 30% less dps at just under 40% the range .. or 60% less damage on slightly less range. We have not mentioned tractor beams yet, we have not mentioned drones or cargo space yet If the tengu were twice as good, it would still be worse at lvl 4s |

Does anyone know if a legion would be able to hit all the frigs in L4s with one or two webs? For instance the spider drones that orbit you at 450m/s and have a sig size of a heavy drone?
This has been the only thing holding me back from trying out a legion in L4s for the fun factor. I figure half the missions would be better done in a BS but there are a lot that require a lot of traveling and not a lot of killing and take forever in a BS. Not to mention t3s are possibly the best salvagers available. |

I personally run mine with a sheild buffer, invul feild and heat harder. Add some nanos to the lows and a tracking comp and your golden. It's pretty fast as I can get 800 m/s with a Rebublic AB.
You don't need to tank that much as your speed and sig do the tanking for you.
But yeah, a BS will outclass one in every respect except speed. Then again I can only thing of two missions with gates that are further than 20 km out. |

It's the pilots who make billions off PLEXs to fly ships they aren't skilled for. Or buy ISK, God forbid. And on the "missions enjoyable" thing, since I'm paying for the game, I might as well enjoy myself when I play it =). Just my personal opinion. EDIT: Forgot to answer OP! It is because missiles will let you change damage types just in case you're fighting non-Blood Raiders/Sansha's. I think. I'm not sure, but it's probably because of the same reason that the Sacrilege is more popular than the Zealot for PVE. Or, in my case, because it lets you get away with a cap stable triple-repping fit... |
