For gang and solo PvP which missile system is overall better? HAMs or Heavy Missile launcher? I want the same fitting for both so its not a HAM for solo and normal for gang its one choice :)

You're going to want to fit a point, which means that you'll be in HAM range anyway…

I would personally go with HML Rooks.

The reason is when you're with a gang, you're engaging from as far away as possible while still being able to jam. You should rarely, if ever, be within HAM range. In gangs, you're prized for your ability to jam targets, with your own DPS being a nice bonus.

In solo, your target should rarely, if ever, be able to lock you before you drag him down with your HML. You won't kill as quickly as with HAM, but you already said you wanted a single solution.

TL;DR: HMLs are more likely to be able to hit from the range you're jamming, and still do enough damage for solo work in general.

each has its advantages.

HAM with Rage you'll be at a max of 18KM so fit a scram and MWD then jammers and tank. if you use CN assualts you'll be closer to 20ish so you could fit a disruptor instead and keep some range.

HML Allow you to engage outside of distruptor range so you could have sustained DPS from 50 km away as you burn into range. This also is well within ECM range. The biggest disadvantage is that you probably would scare off the target before you got close enough.

I would same HAM for Solo as you have to have a point any. HML for gang work and let someone else get in close.

In before Gypsio.

Also, the correct answer is HML's for both.

If you disagree that's fine, but good luck fitting a MWD and some buffer with your HAMs; one missed cycle and you're a killmail.

In other news, Blaster-Falcon > Rook for solo pvp by an order of magnitudes. It's probably better than a Pilgrim actually.

Why is this? - and do you have a fitting for a Blaster-falcon you'd like to share? Smile

Rule 1 about Blaster Falcon club, you do not talk about Blaster Falcon club.

Also Hams + LSE + MWD is viable on the rook if you only fit 4 hams... but what to put in that empty high with all that cpu spare.... (still get well over 400dps)

Solo Rook eh? Well, I tried it, but I couldn't get it to work. Everything looked good on paper - better mobility than a BC, good DPS, a GTFO option, but I just couldn't get it to work in practice. It seemed to be some sort of combination of horrible cap, people fleeing as soon as they saw it on scan (Curse effect), costing 100 mill, a vulnerability to drones and neuts and plain bad luck. Ultimately I decided that I was better off flying free Caracals and Drakes.

Gee, what could someone put in a high slot to help him survive when solo/ small gang in deep enemy territory?

Damn, can't see anything going there.LaughingLaughing

Yep, nearly all targets run away, and blobs kill you anyway. On the other hand, no one will hesitate to engage some poor Caldari noob in a caracal or drake, cause we all know those are not viable pvp ships.

Yeah, I'd prefer the probe launcher over a cloak as well. Get the lock quicker so you can start applying dps and tackling your target.
