Readers,

As you all know I am pretty new to this game (2 Months) and enjoy every aspect of it. This game gives me such great emotions that words cannot describe. I have for some time now been posting in so many forum threads that I'm starting to have fans Very Happy I would like to start the "The EVE Chronicles of Derek Chu"

- The EVE Chronicles of Derek Chu Pt.1 -

Let me start of that most of the time when I log on the forums all I see are hate threads which makes me upset. A lot of trolling goes on and a ton of false information being handed down. Pilots talking about who did this, or who did that. At the end of it CCP will block all trolling. Anyways as a loyal servant of EVE I would like to contribute a little something to the EVE community. I feel that sharing my in game experiences shall put a stop to all these nonsense.

Today was an off day from low sec ratting so I decided to try out my mining skills at a nearby low sec system. Now people have always told me not to mine in low sec cause of pirates. So I decided to try my luck. I packed up my retriever and headed out towards Kubinen (Caldari Low Sec) Upon arrival I check the current local system to make sure I'm not seeing any -10's around (Pirates)So far so good Very Happy I warp to my first belt so I start to grind away at the roids trying to save up for my very first battlecruiser which I will build for PVP purposes. About and hour into it I start to see local flare up of smacking. I'm guessing that a pirate jumped in and ganked someone. I check to see local and yes! I see a red skull! At that moment I replied in local stating my intentions in this very low sec system.

Derek Chu > Hello gentlemen o/ I would be no bother to you guys. All I really want to do is mine in this system to collect some ORE that I cannot obtain in high security space. At the end of my mining cycle I would hopefully have enough ORE to manufacture myself a battlecruiser.

Local Pirate > Go ahead. We shall not bother you.

Derek Chu > Ty kind sir.

.... 3 mins later

Derek Chu > HEY! HEY!
Derek Chu > Stop please!
Local Pirate > What?
Derek Chu > Please stop warp scramming ME! I said I won't bother you! I just want to mine!
Local Pirate > We didn't promise anything :)

... 30 seconds later

BOOM... BOOM...

My newly fitted retriever which I spent a couple days saving up for has falling into the hands of a pirate guild. In this case I did mention to the pirates that I won't be of bother. They replied that they'll not bother me! It's these type of actions that upsets me ingame. Now I have to grind out the ISK to purchase myself a new retriever and mine again. The lesson of the story is never trust pirates and always have your own back.

In Gods Arms,
Derek Chu

life is a b&tch and eve-o don't make any exceptions to that rule.
You knew that you are in a possible highly dangerous area, you also knew that by stating your pacifist intentions you will directly draw "the pirates" attention.

What have you learned so far?

As like most people do. Most pilots exert some of their real life personalities into game. I myself keep my words in good faith. Yes everyday is a new learning experience and my postings will help others understand the better side of EVE rather than the bitter side of all trolling threads.

You see, you take the better side (or good side) of a human being as granted, which is false. Both in real life and in EVE-O.
Your post isn't the first one and will not be the last one, as long as credulous ppl like you exists in this "environment" the behavior that you've described will keep on going on.

A balance must exist between losses and gains.
You figure out about what am I talking.

Yes you are right. "A balance shall maintain" But it wouldn't hurt to have the balance tilting more on the good side. Everyone on EVE plays in every way and such. After all it is a game and people choose which path they want. Although there are leaders that are needed to help guide new EVE gamers wither it be pirates, mercs, industrialist, pvp'r a like. A certain type of respect and comradeship wouldn't hurt in any situation.

Two things:

Don't mine in low-sec. The minerals are really no better than in hi-sec, with the exception that the rocks are much bigger. (and now you know why they are that way 'cause nobody mines in low-sec).

If you want "better" minerals, learn exploration and probe yourself down a Gravametric site in hi-sec.

Second (and it wouldn't be COAD if I didn't say this):

With a thread title named "The EVE Chronicles of Derek Chu", I expected to read how some badass new guy went to low-sec in his T1 frigate and solo-wtfpwned 2 BCs while screaming "I AM THE LAW!!!" in local and having the defeated pirates make you 'leader for life'.

Instead, I get 'Mother Theresa gets r/a/p/e/d in low-sec while collecting minerals to save children'.

Please adjust your next thread title to reflect this.

Never tell anyone what you are doing.. unless you are setting a trap yourself. EvE players are ALL EVIL!! You have to believe that there is no single fair player out there. TRUST NO ONE!!

ps: did you really expect to not get ganked after telling everyone in low sec local that you are mining?? /facepalm

2/10, and you only get the 2 because some ****tards are writing earnest replies about the dangers of lowsec.

Even if your name was "Ghandi Chu" I am afraid this nonsense will not stop solely by you setting an example of upright, exemplary behavior. Honor will not be bestowed upon the dishonorable, honesty will not suddenly overwhelm the dishonest.

Continue with your Quixotic mission, my brother, you could certainly do worse, as you have already experienced.

Derek, no matter how much you want Eve to be as 7 year old friendly as WOW, it isn't going to happen.

Really, it is hard to think this post is even serious. Mining solo in a retriever in low sec, and trusting the assurance of a pirate that they will let your little retriever stay alive?

If this is serious, you should just stay with your little scared Dutch Rudder friends in high sec where you all belong.

Only trust sec rating and their bio. If they have a bad sec rating, and/or their bio is them boasting about being evil, don't believe a word they say.

But, if you are there, and they are not, then they cannot be there, and thus is somewhere else... Right?!

Please, show me evidence of this. I am a real nice guy ingame, but only yesterday did I hold a family of scandinavians hostage while I brutally beat up their house keeper "Greta". Screaming and crawling across the ground I hit her with her false leg, only to log onto Eve and do a little mining.
