Another person here who's had nothing but good service from Shattered Crystal. The phone call from the rep was a little weird, but now my account's sorted it's no hassle for me to use. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for GTC's. Except the OP, whose friend clearly isn't the only one who "is very bad in english".

I used SC once about two years ago to purchase by very first (and last) GTC with money. I never received the infamous phone call, but I did receive the code promptly in the mail.

It is odd because every other person I have spoken to about SC has gotten the infamous phone call, but I did not get one.

Sad I'm so lonely...

I'm an affiliate with Shattered Crystal. They're really nice (and local to me too, I live in Portland, Oregon) and if you experience problems a phone call to their customer service department will probably be able to solve it.

They do require you to prove somehow you are who you are, and I find that a bit strange really. But the simple fact is at the end of the day, they're running a business and they have to protect themselves against fraud.

Credit card fraudsters make this necessary, it's an effective check against stolen and guessed CC numbers.

No its not, not by a long shot. Whats to stop the fraudster using google maps to answer the questions?

Can you tell me what the main A road is directly north of my house? If you can, I will concede the point.

Sure, just give me your address. Remember the fraudster already got your address right when ordering or else the transaction would fail.Very Happy

if you have the money and card to buy from SC for your own subscription, why not buy directly from CCP? (subscription, GTC)

SC is ok for some people, but for some who are foreigners and don't speak english that well they often accuse you of fraud, and this is VERY VERY rude. you don't just go up to a person and say 'you're fraud.'

They could be more polite but i guess they don't give a toss about couple of GTC not being sold.

I never had any issues with SC, and they ALWAYS call first customers for anti-fraud reasons. They were very polite and just had me answer a few questions and then sent me my order. Your friend must have had bad luck.

If he a bad english speaker, then I can partly understand that he probably misunderstood the caller. They always call first, for anti-fraud reasons, not because HE explicitly was accused of fraud.

Yes, battle clinic may now sell GTC and you may want their business, but smearing SC is just poor.

Eve is renowned for it's 'PVP' approach in a myriad of forms, but this is just poor business practice.

I have never had a problem with SC and will continue to but from them, and i'd rather someone have some security in place rather than take my cash and run.

It is NOT an anti fraud technique. A person using a stolen credit card can use google mpas just as easily as SC can.

That's why you always supply them with your cellphone number. That way they will get your voicemail while you're asleep (as long as you turn your phone off when you're asleep like I do).

Never had any problems with SC, they called once and asked a few questions and that was it.

But some of the reports here about talking english with an accent and then accusing you of fraud sound pretty bad. They might want to review that ;).

Personally, after reading some of the complaints, I wouldn't buy from SC either at the risk of being accused to be a fraudster because my spoken english isn't stellar.

Nothing but poor business practice.

Why does SC accuse people of being fraudsters if they speak with a foreign accent if their card was issued in a foreign country? Maybe they should stop being so gung-ho about that.

Reading comprehension is a good thing. They do always call, and since the guys english understanding wasn't stellar, he THOUGHT they were accusing him of fraud, while they were in fact just doing a routine check, as they do with all new customers.

Damn, I need to go to bed, I'm starting to act like an ass :(

Shattered Crystal came to my home drunk once, insulted my wife and children, sat on my cat, helped themself to my food, and passed out naked in the hallway.

I'm not using their service again. No one needs that crap.

I too was accused of fraud. And my english isn't THAT bad.

They also refused to refund me until I started being fairly rude towards them.

thats funny vista, i used them a couple of times when i first played eve, and didnt know i could pay it with paypal.
Never had trouble with them.
They just want to know some info about the area i live in.
Got my GTC 10 min after i ordered, phone call was less than 5 min after i ordered.

The irony is strong here.

According to the OP, his friend definitely was accused of fraud, as evidenced by the fact that the transaction was canceled. If you actually understood the OP's post, then you would have realized what he was saying.

As you said, reading comprehension is a good thing.

I also had a bad experience with Shattered Crystal. They refused to sell to me because I'm from the UK, but currently living in the US. They weren't very polite about it either.

I've used SC a few times, and I actually did get a wrong code, over the course of a week or so they contacted CCP to get a new code, they sent me a new code which worked, and I got my moneys worth.

If I look at my bills I've probably spent well over $200 at SC over the years.

However since the wrong code I haven't bought anything from them.
As they do say - since the delivery of the codes are electronic, they cannot offer a refund, etc.

I will be using alternative services should I need to buy a code for whatever reason.

i have always got from time codes from shattered crystal... when they tried to phone me my would ring but for some reason when i answered it the call would not connect properly... this happened with both my phones (which are on two different phone networks) my guess is the problem had to be on thier end and the likely hood of both phone companies being on the blink at the same time is extremely remote.

anyways after alot of emailing back n forth they sent me the codes... now cos my email address is set on auto approve with them i get the codes instantly

SC is usually pretty good, as soon as they know that your address / credit card ordered the GTC, they won't annoy you ever again.

Been using em for my whole EVE play time.

I used to use Shattered Crystal but the last time I tried, their checkout was so badly broken I couldn't complete the transaction. This time I tried BattleClinic for the second time but they're not delivering the codes. So I tried eve-codes, and their checkout told me I had an expired session after I completed the PayPal purchase. Still waiting for email delivery of codes from both of those brain dead places. Wait, wait, wait, noting arrives. I dont know why these places have such difficulty just delivering GTCs that have been paid for.
