This has happened before so I don't know whats going on here, but has anyone else experienced fraud alert messages from ccp when trying to pay for the game using their debit card? I JUST talked to my bank after getting this message and nothing is wrong with my card yet ccp rejects it with this fraud alert message:

Payment ******* failed Credit Card risk assessment with Fraud result: Denied. Your transaction reference number is: *******

This card is the same one that I have on file that I pay EVE with every month. Nothing has changed on it or on my accounts, but suddenly I go to buy a plex and get this alert, I was just wondering if anyone else has also experienced this problem.

Don't bother telling me to file a petition, I already did. I'm not seeking help, I'm trying to see if others have had the same problem as I seem to be having.

Sounds like your bank is blocking the request. Yes i read the post, but it is almost definitely your bank

I had this when I last renewed my subscription, what had happened was the bank/credit card company had flagged the transaction and put a stop on my card to prevent any further use until they had confirmed that it was me using it.

They've done this to me on several occasions and it's damned annoying but they see what they think is an aberrant payment and put the brakes on using the card. You might want to simply contact the card company and check if this is the case.

That is just it, I got off the phone with my bank no more than 5 minutes before I posted. They say there is nothing on the account, or the card yet CCP still flags it. If they keep doing this I am not going to be able to pay for my accounts because they refuse the card. I don't have any other card I can use.

What I found was that it wasn't my bank doing the flagging, it was some flaky system run by the fraud section, which doesn't seem to talk to everybody else that much. They would ring me after each failed transaction and do security checks, simply because I'd tried to spend a bit of my own cash.

If you don't get a call from whatever entity is running the fraud office, perhaps wait until tomorrow, there may simply be some fault between CCP's system and your bank's. I couldn't say what else could be wrong if the card has been used before and nothing seems to be wrong.

Have you tried using the card for anything else today? You might need to physically go to one of your bank's branches to get it sorted out.

I had a similar experience earlier this year. I went to use my card, about 15 minutes after already using it successfully, and it was rejected. After a few more attempts at swiping the card I decided to head down the street to my bank. It turns out that some company had reported to several banks that a crap ton of its customers possibly had their cards and personal info "compromised," so the banks (mine anyway) canceled all those accounts. Unfortunately for me I never received the notice in the mail that they said they sent, so I had no idea, and had to apply and wait for the new card that dayugh

I can pay a normal sub fee of 14.95 no problem ( I just did it). But I can't buy a plex without it triggering a fraud flag.

well I'm not sure then. I'd still head to the bank and ask them.

Bit too overprotective if you ask me, yes it would stop someone going on a spending spree if they grabbed your card, but seriously, not being able to use it for anything more than a packet of noodles is quite stupendously stupid Very Happy

I concur. It is really weird. I can pay a normal sub fee with no issues. I just re-subbed up both my accounts with the very same card CCP freaked out over when I tried to buy a PLEX from them. More crappy coding from CCP strikes again?

Happened to me too, resulted in my bank blocking my debit card for a week and telephoning me to check whether it is really -me- that paied for it.

I think what happened is that for some odd reason the bank consider paying for EvE a foreign transaction and sometimes block it for fraud.

I don't think this is down to CCP, I've had this happen on a few occasions when making online purchases, it's more the automated systems the banks have for flagging payments that don't seem to match your 'usual' buying habits. I even had them ring me about buying some groceries one night at my local supermarket when I spent 30 or so using my card.

They seem to keep a record of your regular spending/withdrawal patterns then put a red mark on anything their system feels is out of bounds. I've integrated payment methods into websites before and they follow basic rules, send off the details to the appropriate payment authorisation webservice, wait for the response to say ok and let the customer know one way or another.

The banks/credit card companies have all these wonderful automated systems that put a clamp on any payments they don't think is 'normal' so you end up only being able to spend within certain limits before they flag a payment as being suspicious. Damned annoying when it's your money Very Happy

So two overseas transactions for $14.95 each are fine but one for $34.95 isn't even though it is to the same company. Yeah that makes perfectly logical sense to me. I have tried to purchase plex several times before and had this same problem then as well. Same card. Same Information. Same result. Yet I can pay for the accounts using the Same card that was denied for buying a plex with. Rolling EyesShockedLaughing

Got a similar problem with my credit card and already since last May. They keep sending me new cards and last monday I went to the bank asking them why the last one received ( one week before ) did not work either.

They checked it and they said it is all ok and the card should work, lets go outside and try it out in the cash machine, as they did not believe me that the card has problems. So outside I put the card in and push the pin code, so far so good, and the bank guy says now withdraw some cash, like 50 euros, then I did that and the message comes up that this transaction is not authorized please contact your bank. The guys month fell open from disbelieve and they could not give me any explanation why this card ( and the 2 previous since May ) did not work. Cant even check the saldo I got it just does not want to do any transaction at all and all with the same message.

Now they applied for another card and in 10 days I will receive it and hope that this time it will work.

I doubt it will tbh.

maybe you trigger some 30$ limit or something, and it gets flagged by that. never had any issues with my debit cards in the past, might depends what country you are buying from, dno really.

Happened to me. CCP's own system had done it. I petitioned and they fixed it ASAP.

buy your gtc from www.shatteredcrystal.com instead

convert that 60 day gtc into 2x 30 day plex... and its actually cheaper than through ccp's website if your european... :)

60 day gtc on ccp's website = 34.99
60 day gtc on shatteredcrystal's website = 26.00 on average (varies between 24.00 to 27.00 due to currency exchange rate)
