So we had the Amarr Championship. Main entrants had to be Amarr, and some of the heirs limited their teams to Amarr-only.
Then comes the Gallente Elections. Every corp with over 5 members can enter, but the Emissaries have to be Gallente.

But what about the Caldari Race? Every damn race could enter. Good job, CCP.

A few months ago I lobbied for being able to change nationalities in EVE, due to RP reasons. GM's replied that I should "just build up standings with the Gallente Federation. That's nationality in EVE."

So unless I want to halt training on my main character and train up a Gallente alt character, I have no shot at being the emissary. At all. CCP argues that the Events are for their respective races. Yeah, what did the Caldari get? A race. A race not only everyone could apply for, but a race which by it's nature favoured Amarr/Minmatar ships due to their speeds.

I guess I just feel the teensiest bit left out. Just a smidgen, really. Slightest, littlest, tiniest tinge of rejection here for having been stupid enough to have Raem be a Caldari Deteis. Bit late to change now, eh CCP? Why, it's not like I can change nationalities. I'm stuck with the droning hiveminds of the Caldari State, 'cos I had the nerve to assume that race wouldn't matter that much.

This is the sound of me with the proverbial baseball bat, walking down Klapparstígur. Neutral

With the Caldari race event, didn't you need to have decent standings with Caldari corps in order to enter? This would seem to give an automatic advantage to Caldari characters.

Dude back when I used to think roleplaying a Minmatar would be fun I attended 2 well documented Events. One was the Oracle backing of the Jovian outlaw, we flew with the Jove against the (predominantly) Amarr alliance headed by MASS (SA). It was fun, I was destroyed and took a long pod ride home whilst someone got the first modded Tach in the game.
Second time I chased some Amarrian priestesses across a number of systems and whilst I (and a host of others) killed her and got names in the news (was pretty made up at time) I lost my ship to sentries due to Torp splash.

I had fun but lost 2 ships in process for no tangible reward, the Amarr event saw even the runners up get Imperial Class vessels.....yeah I felt gutted to have picked the wrong race for events vs reward but if you enjoy the event at the time then something is right.

They cannot pls every one 100% of the time

I am still waiting for the Republic to issue me some funky ship though pls guys ....... Wink

What I dont understand is why everyone that did NOT use agentwhoring to start his career is more or less disqualified form most major events because he/she would have to spend 3 months gaining the ****ing standing first.

I raced, I had - standings with caldari, but connections lvl 4 got me in, people whine that they didnt want to do missions to compete, all they had to do was train up connections.
The race sucked anyway, I came 3rd because of that flippin cap bug.

I personally think that it would be a really cool idea if we had more events like the one that was staged sometime back ( the crilere incident *spelling * ) it seemed almost bizzare to be sitting next to an enemy corp and defending empire space together .(I lost 2 moa`s and a thorax over that event but it was really good event which I thouroughly enjoyed and I think that everyone else who participated enjoyed as well.. the stangest thing in the whole event was to see loads of cruisers and b/s flooding in to crierlere to defend empire whilst seeing loads of pods scurrying out ... Laughing It was a good event .. Laughing..I hope we can have something similar again Very Happy

events come from an rp perspective. That means that the background for each event dictates who/what/why. That may not be fair considering each player equal, but the whole background/rp/ of a faction would be worthless if it wasnt used, and any event would hardly relate to the identity of each faction. And its because of the identities that there are events. seems logical to me.
