in this youtube video, the day of darkness II:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXWf-l71MY4&feature=rec-HM-fresh+div
if you look at the footage starting at exactly 1:00 into the video you see the image of a planet being bombed and a turret aimed up into the sky. is it possible that this is from dust? the turret would make sense, becase there are to be air vehicles in dust, and the map doesnt look too big considering ccp has said there will be up to 256 players online at one time.

after comparing the dust trailer (the one got on camcorder) and the footage here, it is possible to reach the conclusion these are from the same game.

or maybe not. w/e.

yes, thats obvious, but could the fans who made it have already known about dust? did ccp let him in on a secret? dust was in development already when the vid was released.

And everyone assumed (at least I did) it meant he got to play with the new planet models and the insanely-large-resolution setup CCP has for making their own videos.

Makes you wonder if he didn't also get some assets from Dust to play with too.

no its not from dust 514. the maker of the video used, among other things, various space objects, including parts of space stations, cut them together so they fit in for a fictive planetary city and then filmed it

Pretty much this. Old video, but insanely well done by a fan. In that thread he explains how he created most of the video... It's completely awesome and worth a watch by any player.

Edit: if you want to see some other insanely well produced videos, check out what Birdynumnum has made. Yes I realize he was the one that bought a damage control II for huge amounts of isk, but the dude makes great videos:

well, this is pretty much close enough... its like ccp hiring a third party (for free) to produce the video.

maybe i should have said that it was CCP backed.

Yep, was surprised to learn that, as well as LoxyRider being there as well. Looks like it's a 3 man team... really looking forward to seeing the Dominion trailer when it comes out, I suspect that will first be viewed at Fanfest.

It just occured to me that several hundred people shouting 'CCP, hire this man!' in the Day of Darkness II thread may have been somewhat beneficial.

Ofc... the Devnought in there certainly showed they noticed the video early on. Laughing

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure the Navy Domi's texture has been around for a while, on some of the faction police (or customs?) NPCs, as well as some Gal mission rats.
