I've noticed that there's no way of exporting the price history of an item on the market to a text file.

If I do this using screenshots and basic OCR, is it considered cheating?

What if I read the EVE process's memory?

I don't want to automate anything, I just want to extract the data.

I won't do any of it if it's considered cheating, but data analysis is kind of my thing and it saddens me to know that all that data is out of my reach...

Pretty sure it's not. It would be unenforcable anyway.

There is really nothing that they can do about it, I doubt that anyone would care.

This is probably not such a good idea.

Perhaps you could use the daily CSV files over at eve-central.com to get the info you're looking for.

Would the logserver collect the data (which i guess you could then scan automatically with a tool)?

No, all the communications are encrypted.

The thing is EVE-Central only records open market orders. It doesn't process orders that have been fulfilled and are thus indicators of the actual market price. Even if EC might look at orders that disappear between uploads it can't tell the difference between orders being fulfilled and just expiring or being removed by the owner.
