Edited by: FinancialDragon on 06/09/2009 19:14:55 I was looking into supplying compressed ore to the market, and skilling up for a rorq.
Though, I see close to zero compressed ore on the market.
Cutting to the chase:
1 unit of compressed veldspar = 417m3 = 500,000 units of trit = 5000 m3 of trit = Compression ratio of ~12 = 330k jump freighter can transport 395mil units/3.96mil m3 of trit per jump With some ships now having an ore bay able to handle these, would selling compressed ore have a viable place on the market?
Would this be useful enough to be able to sell the ore for a good enough price to make up for the compression/fuel costs? I'm thinking there must be a good reason for the market being devoid of compressed ore ;p |

It can only be done in lowsec/null sec/WH space. Not many people are crazy enough to sit vulnerable in a 2 billion ISK ship unable to do anything while it's compressing ore. |

Yeah, i'm fully prepared to set up a POS to protect it while it crunches away, heavy water is quite cheap to fuel it, so overheads will hopefully not be too insane. |

There are other things you can use for better compression.
You have to have a Rorqual to decompress, since it is jump capable one would assume you could have used the Rorqual to do the compression in the first place.
If this was a profitable idea I am sure someone would be doing it by this time.
If you need a Rorqual for other things you can give it a go but if it just to do this I don;t think it would be worth the effort in the long run |

Nope. You just refine the compressed ore in a station or POS refinery, the same as you would for normal ore/ice. |

isn't regular mineral compression easier? |
