Hmm well where do i start...
I do my own Corp and Alliances recruiting so i was browsing the eve forums for new recruits when i came across a post that was looking for a new Corp. It asked me to update flash player for which i stupidly accepted. Didn't think much more of this until the following day when i logged in to find everything gone. My account was then banned while the GM`s investigated and a week later i went through the security questions to get my account back.

Anyways, my isk was reimbursed but all my assets weren't, why?
Most of my isk was tied up in assets to the tune of around 20b.
CCP say my assets are now out of game as most were crushed and the minerals sold. I also had 30 or so fully rigged BS, Commands etc and they were also repackaged and sold to any buy order on the market. My logs show this.

My question is......through no fault of my own i was key logged from the eve forums which are meant to me monitored aren't they? I know if there's some smack on the forums they can be banned quite quickly so why cant they do the same for the key loggers. CCP now have fixed this by not allowing trial accounts to post which is too little too late.
With this in mind why cant any of us get reimbursed?
I understand if the assets were crushed then they cant be replaced but surely they can be replaced with isk?
5 years worth of assets down the drain so to speak.

Arent CCP meant to protect us and where is the customer support and customer satisfaction?
There should be some isk in a pot for this scenario.
Where does all the isk go that CCP earn from us creating Corps and Alliances etc etc?

I will continue to petition this bull s.h.i.t until i get some straight answers and some sort of compensation.
All the GM`s keep doing is closing my petitions which is great customer support.
I will even take this further and post on every review on the world wide web that advertise Eve and i will say exactly what i think.

So c`mon CCP, cough up and start respecting those who have played eve for a very long time.

Because those items have already entered other peoples hands. People who have nothing to do with the keyloggers. Sad (not really) but thats the way it works

*POINTS!* OBJECTION!

They're banning people as fast as they can, but it's a LEEEETLE difficult with some people, you know, clicking on the links, getting their accounts hacked, which are then used to post

Quote:

As far as I'm aware, trial posting has been removed for quite some time. These are not trial accounts, they're people who, much like you, have clicked on a link they shouldn't have, and got themselves hacked

Quote:
I understand if the assets were crushed then they cant be replaced but surely they can be replaced with isk?

Doing so increases the amount of isk in the game, which CCP does not wish to do. It's bad enough what's already coming in.

Quote:

.... They're CCP, in a virtual world they own, they don't need to earn it, they can press some key strokes and make it appear. The problem is what that would end up doing to markets.

Creating corps and alliances is an isk sink, where isk is removed from circulation.

Through no fault of your own? thought you said you accepted the flash update... Rolling Eyes

****ty what happend to you really, but you cant really blame ccp for this, keylogger warnings have been around for a looooong time! all links should be treated suspisiously... this one you even willingly clicked yes and let the little logger in... what corp sub needs flash?

To give you money back for all the things you lost, would be a huge inflation i think... But how did they track the money? Did you get the just isk that was in your wallet, or did you get the isk for all the mineral sales and ship sales?

(And as to reimburstment on the huge scale you are talking, your opening up for a huge exploit... i can just see the little hackers getting together to plan out and stage huge "hacks" filling up buy orders and contracts, and distrubuting their assets around to alts and friends, and tehn getting their moneys worth back! Huge scam!)

That wouldn't happen on the eve forums, you must have gone to an external site. Did it involve a wiimote attachment?

Looks like you have an explanation already.

The spam posts to dodgy sites get banned and locked. The links seem to stay though, which seems stupid to me. However it does seem like your fault, as you went to a dodgy website and agreed to install the "flash player" keylogger. Firefox marks attack sites fairly quickly these days (new versions of IE do too), and decent antivirus stops you downloading keyloggers.

It disappears. It is a virtual asset, and therefore can be created and destroyed at will.

So, entirely through your own fault, you got a keylogger on a site that is beyond CCPs control, and now you're clogging up the petition queue. Good job.

So it wasn't on the forums. You used a link to an external site and you specifically gave it permission to install stuff on your computer. The internets lied to you, shocking I know, but you were very careless to expect anything else and paid the price. **** happened. Learn from it and try not to repeat your mistakes.

Moreover, the forums give you a very visible warning when clicking on links that lead outside the forum. This absolves them (and quite rightly) of any liability.

Come to think of it, the rash of posts of this kind over the last couple of days completely make sense:

The keyloggers are hoping to influence CCP to fill up the ISK and assets on accounts they have breached, and whose owners are stupid enough not to have removed the logging software yet, so that they get a second round of goodies for free…

This is wrong becuase to date I have never seen a forum post ask for a flash player update since posters cannot that I am aware of post flash. Now if I am wrong someone please let me know but if I am right this means you left the EVE site following a link. If you used the above statement in your petition then I understand why they would deny part of it, the base info is false.

First the fault of the keylog is yours. You failed to keep a current AV on your system and provide adequate protection for your won computer. While CCP is responsable for trying their best to protect the site that does not mean you have no responsability to protect yourself. Additionally as I stated before to date I have never seen a flash update on an EVE forum and I serious doubt such would exist so this should have set off alarms right out of the gate.

I feel for you and the lose you took, I even agree to an extent that CCP should help with these issures. However your post makes it sound like you have no responsability in this matter and yet this is not ture for anyone here.

ok i am going to get smacked forthis i am sure, but i can understand where the op is coming from................kinda.

i too was hacked and have just got my stuff back, and like op have had a significant loss due to real ngame value and what i got back, but i have one slight difference, the bulk of my loss comes from the hacker destroying my mothership and taking insurance payout, so item is no lnger in game. now ccp have kindly sorted all the stuff out and returned the isk that was transfered of the account, which means i allready took around a 3-4bil hit from difference in market value and buy orders of my assets, however i do not understand why my pride and joy cannot be returned as it no longer exists meaning it would harm no player to return something which was detsroyed. as for the rest of the loss, you know what, yes its my fault i clicked someting i shouldnt off and there must be some knd of consequence. but taking a 5.7bil payment for a sip that would sell easily for 15bil is not nice and not neccesary in my eyes

In this case I don't see why they shouldn't give the ship back and take back the insurance payout, just as they do with ships destroyed due to bugs/lag/etc.

Ok so if your stupid enough to click anylink browser throws at you, hows that CCP fault? After all no forum monitoring can be 100% effective and even if it is, its still not going to remove your responsibility of your computers safety.

So i would say, be glad you got something back. After all your stuff diding get lost becouse bug/lag/programming error on CCP's game. They got lost becouse you installed evil keylogger to your computer. I would expect people to be smarter then that now days, but i guess old 95/5 rule still applies.

Well items in reality can be replaced, its a game, its not real, its not a real ship thats been crushed is it, its an item in a database thats it..so really if they wanted to they can replace it, just like any reimbursement they do..but im not sure why CCP do this..to be honest its seems CCP are intent on punishing their players with the same risk v reward principle where risk far outways reward..anyhow...again with ISK, its not real money, its jsut again numbers in a database, there doesnt need to be a pot lol...

I dunno know why CCP act like this, its a double edge sword, they help you in one way - great but then severely punish you in another..or maybe its the case of - hey you wont do it again will ya!...

Those numbers in a database determine how much your and mine ISK and assets are worth. If CCP starts manually adding to them everyone's ISK and asset value will drop. I keep my computer up to date, I don't click shady links and I got a password that lives up to the toughest standards. Why should I pay for other players stupidity?
