5 Years after EA killed it - E&B is back - new version is currently being betaed. Its not perfect - it never was - but its almost as good as it was when it was first beta tested.

If you want to pay a visit to yesterday - give it a go....

google Earth and Beyond emulator - and give a thought to the great bunch of people who have worked all these years to bring the game back to life.

E&B has a few things going for it, a very strong story that x10 better than Eve. E&B has real epic challenges/missions with real epic rewards. It has decent PvE that require group work.

EA is probably watching this closely and will pull the plug as soon as it gets to a playable release thereby mucking up years of effort. They are bastages like that. Gamesworkshop did the same on mods for DoW that they did not like. They waited until they were complete and ready to go then pulled the ip card and shut them down. Not fun times on the relic forums then.

Man I was in the old EnB beta around the same time I got into the eve beta. Even in the admitedly poor state EVE was in when it launched, it was better than EnB.

Real space mmos have ambulation :)

Of course it isnít as good as eve, nowhere near it - thatís why it died all those years ago - itís just that some of its features are really good and would make eve better. Like player manufactured stuff having better attributes then plain stuff bought on the markets - imagine - Cribbas modified power diagnostic system. It has loads of good pve ideas eve could steal as well like fun and unique sights to visit. Tbh I was more excited going behind the line in Xipe Totec then I have been doing lev 4 missions.

My return visit to E&B was fun and nostalgic - I even said hi to some people I hadnít seen in years.

Its cartoony and quite a grind - but its still fun to play - the wishy washy soundtrack - the stupid mobs that one shot you-.....

Which is why I finally quit the game. Even in an area that was appropriate for your level you would randomly get wtfpwnd when you looted or mined and instantly lose hours of sp gains with e&b's horrible xp debt system. I mean you are mining or ratting away and *poof* right out of the roid or wreck a meanie pops out and kills you instantly. Wtf kind of mechanic is that? In eve it would be the equivalent of concord randomly popping into a belt or mission and fragging someone for the lulz though I can certainly see some players being all for that. Twisted Evil

The xp debt thing was stupid - but sneaking under somthing really mean's nose to pick up some nice loot or ore because you had fitted your ship for low sig - only to screw it up and get zaped - thats exciting. I cant remember ratting in eve ever being that interesting.

Can you put in a line break after you "quote" somebody? It makes it easier to distinguish when what you're putting in quotation marks stops and when your post actually starts (hint: that's why the forums quote posts the way they do).

For me, yes. Creates a clearer divide between quote and post. A gap is a definitive break.

Do tell of this fantastic backstory of theirs, haven't heard word one about it. Is it on par with Ass-a-rot?

Probably better. I've got the full story somewhere on my comp, and it's quite long. Unfortunately I can't remember what it's named, so finding it has proven difficult.
