in the first picture you can see a caldari mothership ... does that means ms' will be able to transport troops from planet to another planet ?

yes they have said so, that eve players can transport troops from planet to planet. although the player with the eve client flying the mothership cant play on the planet itself, since the dust 514 engine is a whole other department.

Can you then also dump em out of the airlock ? That would be amusing YARRRR!!.

I love that ...tick of those pubescent teens who only care about their kill ratio...and not about the game...................

Gathered Info about Dust:

Compiled Info about Dust:
(Take everything with a grain of salt)

WiS will be released prior to dust

WiS has been renamed to Incarna

Incarna comes 2010

CCP is already "damn far" into Dust and its been for 3 years in development already

Eve commanders can issue strategic (not tactic) orders towards the ground troops

Eve Players can send isk and more down on the planet to support the ground troops

# of players in a battle can be 24 - 256

In the winter-expansion we might get to see which planets will be assigned battlegrounds

There might be a playable version on the fanfest

Petursson about a PC version: The focus is on the Consoles. He repeatedly refused to give answers on a PC version

CCP has secured the trademark dust514 for Xbox, Ps3 AND PC

Dusties have access to various weapons, combat vehicles, including air units

Some weapon-platforms will be modular (including weapons / vehicles)

One of the modes in dust is "Domination", its about capturing + holding strategic important points

Various Buildings can be installed in a combat-scenario, e.g. weaponturrets

Vehicles in Dust can be fitted like eve ships, with several low-, medium-, high-slots

Planets have several sectors which need to be conquered before someone can claim souvereignity on a planet

One single Battle is always about one sector of a planet

Dust will be a persistent world

Cosmos will play a huge role for the communication between both communities

Eve Players cannot watch a battle on the ground, dust players cannot watch whats going on in the space

The pure FPS Part plays only a small role in the big picture

Dust has RTS and Strategic Elements

Dusties get experience through battles, become stronger and get access to better equip

After Launch, Dust is being constantly updated with new content

Direct chatting between Eve and Dust players...NOT; but via Cosmos it will be possible

Conquer enough zones -> the planet will be yours

Conquer enough planets in a system -> SOV over that system

Eve players will have an interface which allows interaction with planets and their various zones

Airvehicles in Dust can bombard ground troops (NO orbital bombardement though)

Gallente Airvehicles can launch combat drones

Fleets and Dusties need to cooperate for success

Dusters will be prify to a form of the EVE cloningsystem

Dust is only ONE part feeding into SOV

Dust will have a commander system

Dust will feed 0.0 SOV AND faction warfare

In fact, in the Dominion presentation, Torfi let slip that in trying to make things look consistent across both games, they've had to make sure that they can use the same planetary shaders in Trinity and in (drumroll) UnrealEngine…

…so yeah.

this would mean that every single one of the many thousand planets and moons (with each one looking unique) will be present and visible both in dust514 and in eve online.

that makes me want to cry that dust and dominion isnt out yet.

Can't remember, but it was only 30 minutes long, so it shouldn't take a lot of time to locate once it's up… Razz

I don't there will be a lack of EVE player support. Furthermore, I suspect you will find that a disturbingly large percentage of EVE players have a "gasp" console lurking around the house somewhere. Granted, it may have supposedly been purchased for the kids or siblings, but it will undoubtedly be put to more important use. Laughing

There does seem to be an awful lot of snobbery in regards to console owners. I have an Xbox 360, and while I don't use it as much as I do my PC, there are certain games that are just better on a console (shock horror). Some people get consoles because they don't require the same level of technical expertise as PCs, and some due to financial constraints, but don't assume they are all morons.

Will those people who suffer from this snobbery be quite so dismissive when a group of console owners help them retain their system sovreignty?

All Pre-Fanfest Info about Dust:

Interview at gamereactor.eu, some keynotes:
Mixture of procudural technology and designed content will be used to create unique battlefields for each Dust-planet
Will Dust only happen in 0.0, or will we also fight over low sec or high sec? Were still internally debating how far we will push it
The style of each race will be given relevance on the planets
The core focus for dust is to make a good online shooter, but we might add things that you can do as a single player

It's all just so... Oh my goodness. Once these updates are released and developed... Just... Wow... The sheer potential of this game. A truly amazing universe is continuing to grow right here. I may sound like a fanboy, but honestly... Once the bright side of the planet revealed itself in the video, and all the way to the end, I just couldn't stop imagining the already so many possibilities with the upcoming expansions. I have this need to suddenly rave to the closest non-EVE player I can find. But I guess I shouldn't keep my hopes up TOO high.

One might say that the features may end up underwhelming, but look at what's happening to Incarna: from a simple socializing experience, CCP decided that it wasn't enough, that Incarna must have a life of its own, and most especially be a significant and worthwhile experience for every kind of player. Do things that aren't registered on any network? Can anyone imagine becoming a private investigator to hunt down these shady characters? What kind of new mission system / trade skill does CCP have up its sleeve?

And DUST, of course. Whether you play it or not, the fact that DUST exists implies that EVE players shall have new features given to them to incorporate this new entity, one way or another.

For all we know, CCP is planning to take planetary interaction even further and allow us to actually set foot on the planets. But then there would have to be a REALLY good reason for a capsuleer to set foot on soil. (Guess we have DUST mercenaries for that. Maybe they'll be able to occupy cities and live in them as part of the "single player" experience? Maybe there will actually be an RPG set in the EVE universe? That would be awesome.)

The beauty is that everything is connecting with each other, further fleshing out New Eden! Hell, even the chronicles and news articles give us glimpses of upcoming changes within the game itself. Did anyone notice that the first DUST teaser and the article on Ishukone winning the bid for Intaki may be directly connected?

CCP really loves its details.

Article from massively.com:

There will be dynamic battlefields where spawn points are chosen by the (commanders).
(Would mean: no pre-made spawn points at all, except the homebase. Spawnpoints would have to be installed)

The game will utilize a microtransaction payment model that allows a la carte purchasing of blueprints for thousands of weapons, turrets, modules, and equipment for use in-game. (Would mean: No other micro-transactions except for blueprints = rather good news)

Planetary interaction. Details on this are light but this feature doesn't involve ownership of a planet. Rather, you may control and develop districts and interact with others who also hold planet territory. CCP states this will not be a clone of Civilization or SimCity, "but has that same good feel." Planetary interaction will have a low barrier of entry.
(My Goodness. This sounds exciting)

Possibilities in planetary interaction: Do you care for your planet? Will you become a polluter to maximize profits? If so, this might bring you into conflict with your (player) neighbors as what you're doing with the planet's resources may impact others negatively. What do you choose to build up -- industry, academia, or infrastructure?
(Also: Exciting stuff)

Considering the problems they have with trying to create a semi custom engin for wis I cant realy blame them for going the "off the shelf because it works" rout.

Lets face it given the number of people they have mentioned before that are suposedly working on wis and they STILL have not shown us any more than a bare bonese prototype . . . .

It's more like BF2142 Titan match (except you dont actually board it and take out the core). Instead of silos you get some missile installations, and you still have to capture some points on map and probably hold them or smth. It's nothing new, but hey - it should work.

Project reality is real deal and much harder to play sucesfully, while this is a console arcade shooter (from footage seen so far).

lol you have some very good and solid points there. From what the guys at eurogamer wrote, theres ALOT in common with battlefield 2142, and the reviewer from eurogamer didnt like that.

but hey, bf2142 is a majorly successfull game, and although a particular game might be majorly successfull, theres always people who dont like it and cater to another type of games. cant have every single person in the world like a particular game.

if this would be the case, then we would have some millions of eve subscribers.

the big advantage for eve here ( as long as dust 514 is available on PC) and if u notice at fanfest they had a side group playing live and that was a PC version. So obviously its already there then u will have the tie in with existing eve players able to use their PC and or xbox or ps3 to jump straight in and that will leverage and then it will flow onto the console version and maybe more players in eve tiself)

Unlike wow they can really tie in 2 games in one. ANd the cross impact probably is only doable with a space-ground interacting MMO and no elite 4 and no other alternatives SWG failed.

Yes, I'd like to see why do you think that as well.

From footage, the actual playing felt like it was a gamepad, not mouse+keyboard, because of the aiming of the guy playing(or he just sucks at fps).
