I have recently been having problems connecting to Eve online in the evenings with Tiscali.

The client connects and works perfectly for most of the day but at around 6pm I am unable to connect to Tranquility. After opening the client I get the 'checking status' message, which eventually changes to 'unknown'.

I know that there have been issues with Eve and Tiscali in the past, as documented in this thread.

I was wondering if any other Tiscali users have begun to experience these problems again?

I too am having the same problem and am with Tiscali. I could not connect last noght nor tonight, although it was fine first thing this morning.

Anyone have any answers?

Another Tiscali User, This problem has just started for me, Latency isn't bad, But getting 32%+ packet loss on one of the tiscali servers. Typical that it happens outside hours.
Would be interested to Know if anyone not on Tiscali is getting this problem... Just to be sure.

EDIT: I also notice I don't go through this server when I ping anywhere else... Traffic shaping again?

i use tiscali and also having big problems ive sent these tests to a gm petition and tiscali support. the bottom test was using a different set of dns settings the other two were a set of dns settings supplied by tiscali but in all cases the fault lies at the 6th hop.

HI, I've had the same problem but what I've tried is using a program called PingPlotter to test the different Hops and yes there seems to be a problem with the 6th Hop (213.200.79.130 telecity-redbus-gw1.ip.tiscali) as the ping times is fine (avg 37), but the packet loss is BAD at around 31% with 380 samples. This is BAD BAD BAD, Tiscali crap has some questions that need to be answered. I have been with Tiscali in the past and they have certainly not changed one bit, crap service, crap support, say no more. I wished I never ever signed back up with them bugger.ConfusedEvil or Very MadSad
I find the problem Happens from around 13:00 to 22:00PM Eve Time GMT and before and after I have no problems connecting, for me I had this problem for the past 2 days.

Same issue here; problem started 09/07/2009, Tiscali. I know befor they had EvE registered as a illigal file sharing progam (WTF) but that got fixed. I guess they must have someone on work experience in...

well tiscali have said this..

"I have escalated the above issue to our Second line service engineer under case reference number UKHD00002869568 and they will follow up with the case."

so if anyone else is contacting them with the same problem you can give them that reference number and they should link your problems to this case.

It's day 3 now that ive been unable to log into Eve during UK Peak hours.
Been with them for 5 years, think i'll look elsewhere now.

It's after 4pm and..... Tiscali have blocked Eve again.

I feel like sending them a Stinking turd in the mail.


If anyone is interested i have made a complaint via http://www.ispa.org.uk/home/ The more people that do should get an answer from them.
There seems to be no answers from Tiscali support or on their forums.

Seems Tiscali are playing up again.
I had the same issue with them. I changed ISP and all is fine now.

Im with tiscali too, it's just started happening this evening (July 13th).

Confirmed - Tiscali are being a bunch of annoying pillocks and blocking all online gaming connections between what they call 'peak hours' that is 6pm GMT to 11pm GMT.
I have asked for an explanation of their justification behind this given no letter of notice of change of conditions, that is the agreement we all sign up to, has been given. Therefore if they dont revert they are in breach of contract, and thus giving any unhappy Tiscali customers an escape route out of contracts.
For the time being i suggest anyone who hasnt already done this to give them a call on 0871 2223311 option 2 then option 1 and then also post them a snotty email and attach a pingplotter graph showing your results to it. Note - Save the graph as a .jpg so they can open in paint, we dont want them having any excuse for not being able to view the data.
Apart from that there is sweet f.a we can do about it.

i sent them an email basically saying that if they dont have it fixed soon i will be cancelling my contract and requesting compensation for subscribtion and service fees. (lost 5 days play time now) and will be billing them for any fees incurred in changing internet service providers. including any charges they try and wave at me for cancelling my contract early.

all of this simply on the grounds of them limiting my "unlimited package"

I made phone call to Tiscali it is very interesting that they deny that they are blocking connection (port 26000)to eve online on peak hours so I will make a complaint in writing to them with a 28 days to resolve the matter or I will cancel the contract, make a complaint to http://www.ispa.org.uk/contact_us/ ,and go with another ISP. If anybody else has this issue and have contacted them via phone call I suggest to do the same as me. Here's a great site if you have problems with Tiscali that I find very interesting and helpful http://www.tiscalisucks.org.uk

HI, I've been having a problem in lossing connection and logging into the Eve Server(server status 'unknown'). When I'm online playing EVE online in the Morning I'm connected OK but when on the DOT at 16:00PM I will loss connection to eve online, and won't get the connection back until 23:00 Pm at night. what I've tried so far is to test all my hardware equipment (filters,cables,switch,Modem router,and computers), tried the connection on a different computer, which still did not except connection to eve online, ran Virus program but did not find any virus. I have also changed the port number from 26000 to 3724 in the prefs.ini file, firewall, router, and tested this port was open tryed Eve online connection again and that did not work either. I also cannot see it been a software glitch as both the computers I've tried use different OS, one has Vista Home Premium SP1 installed and the other has windowsXP Home SP3. I have been running tests on my download speeds about 4 times a day, but this did not reveal any problems as I get an avg of around 4.56Mb constant through-out the day.

I then ran a program called PingPlotter to test the different Hops and yes there seems to be a problem with the 6th Hop (213.200.79.130 telecity-redbus-gw1.ip.tiscali) as the ping times is fine (avg 37), but the packet loss is BAD at around 31% with 1500 samples. I find the problem Happens from around 16:00 to 23:00PM GMT and before and after I have no problems connecting, for me I had this problem for the past 5 days.

So at some point from when packets leave my Modem router to the Eve online server there is an issue, I have conntacted my ISP Tiscali on the issue via Email first then phone call but they denied that they were blocking commuication to EVE Server but said they would look into it. They at yet not fixed the issue nor conntacted me about any further investigation into the problem. I do know I'm not the only one with this issue as I see plenty of Threads on the eve, Tiscali,Pipex,and Virgin Forums were others are having the excact same problem.

I have also conntacted Eve Online support team about the problem so maybe Eve Online will conntact Tiscali about this problem as it concerns them aswell in that it is preventing there Customers (you and me) from accessing ther Server.

I know this is a long message but I've tried to clarifiy the situation that has been happening to me

I'm Changing ISP. Tiscalli called me after i submitted 9 trace tests and sent them links to these forums and other users problems.

when they called me all they said was. we are aware of the problem but we cant fix it so i simplied said ok can i have a mac code please. they came up with some crap about i still had x time on my contract and id have to pay if i left which i pointed out if they cant fix the problem then it invalidates my contract so they can't bill me if i leave.

Same here, been having problems for about 5 days now. Ive sent 2 emails to them and tonight i got a call back from an engineer who said theres nothing they can do about the problem. Well its goodbye Tiscali, i was thinking of going with BT. Does anyone else use BT? or can suggest a good isp please.

I believe there is a bigger problem with eve networek itself. 97% packet loss.

Strongly recommend that anyone who wants a consistent, performant online experience ditches Tiscali asap.

I used to be with them and had a variety of horrendous problems - won't bore you with the details - but the upshot was that they offer a degraded service of exceptionally (i.e. unaccetpably) low quality which is not fit for purpose. And their customer support is non-existent. Absolutely appalling.

I switched to Zen. They have been perfect for over a year. I think the bandwidth is capped, but as I'm not into stealing media, it's never bothered me. AFAICT the only reason to stay with Tiscali (if it's still uncapped) is the ability to run uTorrent frustratingly slowly at the expense of a predictable gaming experience! :)

Well it looks like Tiscali or Eve has fixed the connection issue for me anyway, I am now able to connect to Eve Online during Peak Times. I hope eveybody else is also able to get there connection to the game working fine. Oh one more thing I still notice that I'm lossing packets on HOP 6 at around 25% so mabye that is how the server is suppose to act and not the cause of the problem, I could be wrong.
