Was out and about knocking around in a t1 frig, warping belt to belt, looking for a top up of newbie tears. Found me a guy who was jetcan mining in a Maelstrom.

Flipped his can and he warped off. Occasionally miners are known for having at least some spine and return in a ship to kill so I hung around the can with the directional scanner on the station to see what he was returning in.

The guy returns in the same ship - but with 5x 720mm Howitzer Artillery Is swapped out instead of the Miner IIs he had fit.

My loins got juicy just thinking about getting a solo BS kill in a T1 frig and causing some hurt to a miner. The possibility of newbie tears always gets me off!

Sat in the belt and the aggro timer is ticking down and the guy has started mining again, just looking at me as if to say - "I could kill you if I wanted to, look at my BIG BATTLESHIP GUNS!" but he just sits there in the belt mining away with target lock on me. More disappointing, he's not jetting anymore ore!

Something needed to be done or I'd have been sitting by the can for hours. I remembered an old trick a previous corp mate had told to me that might provoke him into fighting me.

I renamed the can to the pilots name. Targeted the can and activated my warp scrambler on it... BINGO!

The pop-up on screen read that I was warp scrambling and the name of the can - read: the name of the pilot - was included in that popup.

This caused the pilot to panic and activate his warp disruptor and his turrets. I now had aggro on him and commenced to plink away through his large shield booster. It took a while to plink through forty two thousand hit points in a Tristan but the loot was alright.

I did almost feel a small twinge of guilt as the dudes ship started to explode - until I noticed the dude had named his ship USS Enterprise (almost as bad as his pilot name)!

Fair play to the guy though - I had no hate mail - no crying in local etc - (shame, cus thats what makes some of these kills so satisfying!)

Anyone else got any other sneaky tricks they use to force non-consensual PVP?

Killboard link removed. ~Weatherman

No.1 You put a kb link in your post Razz

No.2 Naming a can you or a pilots name then scramming it to create that message to deceive them into pew pew is an exploit (everyone would still be doing it in jita if it wasn't). Exploiting an old mechanic then announcing it to the world may not be the wisest course of action one may take...

Using an exploit to kill someone. They ban people for that right?

Better save this for posterity minus the killmail. We do not want the poor target to not have his revenge via a petition now do we.

CCP should just fix these things instead of calling them exploits, not announcing it anywhere and then pursuing anyone caught using the method. Even if they had no knowledge of it being an exploit.

They should also fix rockets.

I heard fixing things was hard and banning accounts easy. Calling something a bannable exploit and doing nothing to fix it is absolutely pathetic way of doing things. Boo CCPEvil or Very Mad

This isn't an exploit cus it only takes looking at your ovreview to see if you are scrambled or not. Petitions for player fail don't get answerd.

I was under the impression that naming the can "You" was an exploit. Not naming a can the name of a character?

was the exploit tag added when noobs started concording themselves? I'm sure more than a few would ignore the warning box.

So you are in high sec, can flipping a miner, running a directional scanner so you can warp off if he brings a ship that might kill you.

That's hardcore pvp dude

Admitting to a known exploit (although this is debatable) on the forums, and bragging about ganking miners? Real pro there dude.

The problem here is Picard flying the Enterprise before being promoted to captain. Also i name my ships like star trek only with UFP instead of USS i add service numbers too :)

CCP's customer support runs off of risk adverse lame tactic using tears - This is how they collect them with a ban stick.

This.

It's your own fault if you're too stupid to look at the overview to see if the target has actually aggressed you before you open fire. It's no more an exploit than putting a shuttle on the market for 9999999999999999999 ISK and hoping someone is stupid enough to buy it.

Oddly CCP has gone a different route in determining what is and is not an exploit - They have GM's decide not the forums - Radical idea and all but it seems to work for them.

Doesn't it now read "xxx has started to warpscramble yyy (jetcan)" want that the fix? So this would no longer be an exploit as it now says the target type in brackets.

I warp scramble a rat and a miner shoots me thinking I'm scrambling him, should I get banned?

Ok, bad argument, but it's something different from the others. Game companies love making stupid bans, including WoW and banning those players for a developer oversight.

When you warp scramble/disrupt someone, the person getting scrambled does not see a message saying "XXX has started to warpscramble you". It has their full character name and corp/alliance tags in it.

If this is true then it is not longer an exploit. In fact, I vaguely remember something along these lines. If so, well done to the op.
