Hi,

Does thermic shield compensation affect all shield hardeners or only thermal ones?

Only thermal

To be precise, it only affects thermal shield resistance amplifiers and when not turned on, thermal shield hardeners and invulnerability fields.

Thank you. I'll defer training it, then.

There are 3 others as well, each for its own damage type. In essence, you can make a bit of a passive tank using invul fields.

No. In fact they are most useful with invuln fields, since they'll give you half-decent resists if the invuln field is deactivated for any reason. +15% on all resists (assuming all comps to level V) isn't exactly great, but it's a lot better than nothing.

Basically what you're saying waste around 40 days to train those so you'll have 15% resists when you're invuln is deactivated ?

Yeah, I wouldn't waste your time getting those skills up if you plan on using active shield hardeners. You should be concentrating on getting skills so you are cap stable when using hardeners and whatever other active tank you use. Now, if you plan on building a passive shield tank, then these can really help. With the shield resistance amplifiers, there is no omni tank module but with the individual amplifiers, you can get a nice resis. Without compensation skills, the t2 amps give you 37.5% but with the related comp skill to lvl 5 you can get 46.9% (starting from 0 in that resis). Of course stacking penalties apply. The active hardeners can give you 55% with the t2s but consume cap. It's your call and depends on the build.

I've re-read my post and can't see anything like that.

if you don't have enough cap to run your invuls, then you are already dead. Yes, they do help if your invuls die, but overall, its just a waste of time.

With armor tanking, because EANMs are passive, the comp. skills are very much important.

If it comes down to that, then you did something wrong to get in that fight. :)

Well you just can just "not train" them, but i tell you they're pretty handy when you're neuted.

Compensations only affect passive tanking.....so when you have a active shield (doesnt matter what shield) and you dont turn it on it helps. If you turn it on the passive bonus depleets.

But as said above...in pvp when neuted it can realy help you survive.

Train them to III, and take them up higher later if you find them useful.

If you fit 2 Invuln IIs, 1 active and the second used passive when running other cap heavy mods.
