Basically the don't spit you out within 15 or so km of the gate, they pick a random point in space and plop you there. Gets rid of gate camping, and might be interesting for 0.0 warfare? This is mostly because many people complain about gate camping, a gang of three ships can stop and kill anything cruiser sized and larger, so to fix that, the gate simply spits people out into a random area of space. |

This would destroy most of the forced interaction and opportunity to catch people at gates - and yes, I consider that a bad thing. There are balance issues with gate camping, you have to make sure it's fair for both sides, but the gate mechanic should not change. Not supported. |

This is EVE Online not WOW or Hello Kitty. I don't like gate camps... but I'm not a total idiot when it comes to the obvious need for them in many cases. Stop whining.... and grow up. |

Keep the personal attacks coming, they are working great.
I agree that my first proposal may have been a bit much, however instead perhaps upon jumping through a gate you receive a slight buff to your guns and tank? That way you would be more likely to engage. Personal attacks working great for you, aren't they. While I agree my first suggestion may have been a little bit over the top, as it stands now, unless you bring a fleet prepared to bust a gate camp, you usually die if you are in a cruiser sized and up ship.
Perhaps after jumping through you get a boost to your health or your weapons or something for a period of time so as to maybe cause however is jumping through to take a chance and fight however is on the gate?

Having ganked and been ganked on a gate, I say the current mechanics are fine. NOT SUPPORTED. |

Not supported. There's already an almost fool-proof defense against gate camps : good scouts. |

It would make Lowsec riskless everywhere bar offstation from a kickout in BC's or larger.
Introduction of Regional gates has already proved just how easy it is to heavy handedly nerf certain playstyles.

Gates create critical strategic bottlenecks. If you don't hold a gate you don't control traffic within territory. Annoying gatecamps are a necessary side-effect of good game balance. And I say this as a carebear who hates gatecamps - they have significance to the game, and you can't throw them out because it causes some people to lose.
Sorry, no support. |
