I want to see what your thinking of a epic sci-fi battle in any game or any movie post here

My favorite: Linkage

I'd probably say one of the BSG battle scenes tbh.

The resurrection ship, the battle liberating new caprica, and the series finale all come to mind.

This.

SG-1 and Atlantis had some good times as well.

The firefly movies final battle was awesome, the graphics they showed were so much better than the rest of the show I was shocked at the quality.

Like a crazy space ballet.

Ha actually I was about to link this one, tbh I honestly cant pick one, most of them are great in their own way.... I mean I have seen some nice 1v1 space battles, medium scale, large scale like the OP posted they are all good in their own way... But I must say out of all the series bsg/stargate have the best(and startrek also has its moments).

Found the other one from Atlantis I was looking for.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye_QlqERMGo&feature=related

The scenes from the series finale could have been very awesome, but that whole episode was trashed because it was so blatantly obvious they packed 2 hours of material into one. I think they ought to have extended the season by an episode to give the series the ending it deserved - besides the *spoiler*
"wormhole drive," the finale could have played out very well if everything was expanded upon. Mainly the space battles <3

The one from Serenity was just priceless - "They're not going to see this one coming."

Star Trek had its moments, even if they do look a bit dated now. They were few and far between, though, and I laugh at how people complained that Battlestar had a lack of pew pew.

The only good BSG scenes were in Razor and the final one. Epics

Eh ... the biggest problem with Epic Space Battles is that ... look at the game we're playing.

You look at a big battle and what do you actually see? What you see is all kinds of red and blue in your Overview as that is where you are fighting the battle - but - as far as seeing the ships involved - mostly they are to far away to really see, unless you are doing a Look on them - and then - you're just watching one ship.

Thus, you look at some of the epic battles in Star Wars and Star Ship Troopers - and you've got all these ships flying right next to each other. Their real problem wouldn't be the enemy - it would be collisions.

Now - in it's day - the Death Star fight in SW IV: A New Hope - was pretty impressive. That launched the original BSG - which had some nice fights of its own - for it's day.

So - comparing something 30 years old to what they can do today isn't really fair. Obviously they can do vastly more today than they could back then.

STOS was very impressive in it's day though totally hokey by today's standards.

Bablyon 5 had some good fights. BSG II had some too (when they had them).

STNG had a few good fights against the Borg and the Cardassians.

All in all, there have been to many good fights over the last 40 years to even remember them all and to much difference in the technologies available to compare them across the decades.

Mostly ... I'll just take what I can get and be thankful for it. What we need is for the Sci Fi channel to host a Great Space Fights Series where they take all these great fights and show them all. They could do it two ways. 1) simply show all the episodes of all the movies or TV shows that had good fights in them. 2) They could do a documentary series where they showed the fights and then went over the back story behind the fights as well as the computer technology that make them.

Eh ...

Love 40k.

Gotta be said, the final two episodes of Battlestar were awesome. I'd nominate them, the combat was sweet.

Starship Troopers (the movie) was just stupid.
However in Star Wars&Star Trek they're using a cinematic "convention" where everything appears to be closer to each other.
EVE on the other hand is the opposite. Even at 200km range an Apocalypse would still be as visible as a centimeter long object at 2 meters distance (no atmospheric disturbances in space).
Not really clearly visible, but still sufficiently visible to be identified at that distance.
In EVE it's just a tiny dot.
EVEs graphics engine does this to minimize the amount of GPU/CPU used, but it's still a shortcut and not a realistic rendering of objects at that distance.

Funny, if it's the one in Season 2 episode 12, I just watched that 5 minutes ago Laughing

Mass Effect: Battle of the Citadel: Linkage

Star Trek Nemesis also had a nice Spacebattle Linkage

At least the first half is quite well done, but I really had to facepalm when the Enterprise began to ram the Scimitar. But that was the problem with Nemesis, any good scene was practically immediatly followed by some extremely poor ones.

Also, I recently rewatched the BSG mini-series. And let's just say that everything seems brand new...and shiny. Inside and out.
