Dear ccp.. so many people are now wanting a real movie from eve online. it would own if it was based on the chronicles AND the actual players within the game...
imagine a full length movie with dark bizare plots etc..

You need a compelling storyline centering around a core group of characters who undergo a lot of intercharacter drama. All of this would have to be created specifically for the Eve movie because it doesn't exist in the available backstory, and I don't know of any renowned authors capable of delivering such who would sink to writing what is essentially fanfiction.
This is why I think a televised miniseries would be preferable to a movie. You get to spend more time with the characters in a miniseries, which draws you into a story set that isn't of the same quality as an epic novel or film just as well as you'd be drawn into an epic film. You also get more time to explore side-plots in a miniseries, which in a place like New Eden could be useful regardless of whether you focus mainly on the crew of a single ship or if you follow a multitude of characters.

Having it based on the Chronicles AND the actual players of the game might be a tall order since as far I know player actions have only impacted upon one of the Chronicles. |

i'd like to see an eve online movie
perhaps having a series of 1v1 pvp tournements to decide which players will earn a role in the movie.
then maybe do a movie where the new eden races finally find a way into jove space for an epic battle |

Make it a Bollywood epic then we could have dancing and singing.
If it was made in hollwood then as soon as your ship touched a roid it would explode, all the pilots would have square jaws and deep personal problems. Everyone would be give high-fives all the time and guys would pause during combat to either make wisecracks or have a deep meaningfull conversation with the troubled, hard-as-nails-but-soft-on-the-inside-very-cute female love interest fighterjock.

It'll stink like the rest of the game to movie transitions. Look at the latest Street Fighter reviews on rottentomatoes.com.
If this is ever going to make it to the big screen it'll take a lot of work trying to compress 20,000 some odd years of eve history to a 2 hour time format.

Agreed. BSG has pretty well proven that a harsh storyline, with no clear cut hero's and villains, can be very entertaining. Add some intrigue, and plot twists... acknowledge the fact that most people tend to think they are entirely justified in their actions whatever they may be... that one persons hero is another persons vile perpetrator. Cap it off with a liberal dose of excellent effects, and make full use of the plethora of ships and weapons available to give it that existing world feel. I'd watch it. A mini-series would be better, but a pilot movie would probably have to come first. |

I would gladly volunteer my character in one of the lead roles. Given his complex motives, sense of honor, inner vulnerabilty, and dashing good looks he'd be a natural.
Naah, they've already done that. I'm sure a torturous, hungry, 0.0 pirate with no morals, values, or shred of humanity would be much better suited to star in the movie.
Since he would be more like the typical Eve player. |

OMG I didn't think there was anyone left who thought lucas could direct anything other then 2 hour long special effects presentations. I'd almost say Uwe Boll would be a better choice then Lucas to direct the movie. |
