So how do you guys explain the GTC market?

cmon everyone and his dog can earn 150m a day so 2 days and your account is paid with isk. Then 4b+ per month to enjoy.

Why do people need to buy isk? If everyone does 4b a month and they invest this wisely to double it easily.

Why would anyone need more isk if nobody loses a ship. Ever. As nobody commits mistakes...

I forgot to add "IN HERE". Bragging on the forums is the oldest activity since internet was created. Come down to Earth, real life people are happy if they get 20-50 millions a day.

I've always suspected that the RMT crowd, and that includes GTC since their inception since it is technically legalized RMT, consists of two different players.

1. Player A who loves the game and loves to interact with the various pew pew, alliances, etc... but lacks the time commitment to earn enough isk to field that fun
2. Player B (who in all reality is likely a group of several player Bs) who runs said alliance and literally needs RMT to make the war engines go

Trading is easy isk, anyone here can attest to it. But it is an acquired skill that does take time to hone and work to such a sharpened point that you can magically work 2b+ capital into the ability to play for free more or less.

So if you're only making 50m a day, don't fret. That is GREAT progress and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Think about it like this, thats the ability to lose one HAC a week and not feel any losses. There are people in the game who would kill to have that ability.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that we players who do throw around a billion plus capital on the market don't collect are profits in a steady stream. We work fluctuations and often have to wait 2 or 3 weeks for movements before we cash out. Thus our immediate daily profits are often in the red, but once some final sales move at the end or middle of the month we're back in the green.

I have no clue how people can make so much with so little effort...

Dont worry, 99% of players are on same situation. How much time have you been playing EVE Online?

Seriously there is too much bragging on here. People talk of billions like if they were peanuts. "Hey I found this cloud and made 6b in a day" lmao and they dont tell how many buddies to share this profit? "I found thins market opportunity and I earn 0.5b a day without playing more than 30 minutes to update some orders"

Yeah Rolling Eyes

Talking on the forums is free and easy you know Laughing

You Ms, are ignorant. We are not bragging. There are days I make 3bil+ pure profit, for me and nobody else. I know of people with 1+ trillion isk. how can you explain that then? How long does eve exist?

Problem with the so called "bragging" is, people can't do it anywhere else. Or rather, people like to talk about their big profits somewhere. Non market people WILL get bored by hearing it over and over while having a wallet of 100mil themselves. So in here, we hope to meet fellow experienced market players to share our stories around a fire fueled with isk :D

Real market people should watch those stories closely, so they can immitate it (and that's why traders are so elusive and general in their stories).

You know, I did read these stories when I started trading and it did inspire me to keep trying. It took me 3 to 4 months to turn my first billion in sales. But I kept working at it when I felt like it.

Now, I'm turning over 2 to 3 billion of stuff a week with an average of 30% to 45% profit margin. I'm still re-investing my profits back into more stuff. Higher priced stuff. Higher profit margin stuff. And it's finally, after 9 months of playing this game, making sense. I have a lot more to learn, but now I understand various comments being made that usually only a working trader gets. And I'm doing it all in station trading from one location, and not a major trade hub either.

I'm not making the 150m a day because I re-invest just about everything I make right now. But I'm doing pretty good for an old fart that works everyday.

About 12m a day through a new self-started corp with a massive 3 members.

Currently getting familiar with the market though, doing a lot of research for trading endeavours.. I'll probably fail, but at least that means someone else gets a profit!

Need to work up some collateral first, the first few weeks are the slowest after all.

Well
It is fun to read about making billions in no time.
I can just comment one thing here.
It is possible to make billions in seconds, but years have been invested before.

I will not comment how much I make per day, which is not important at all.

What is important how I have achieved my results.

I have started trading in May 2007 and since that have been adding bit by bit to my NAV every day. Later I switched to manufacturing and some other activities.
And now, after two hardcore years, I can afford myself to spend just a little time - let's say an hour daily - to maintain my profits at a quite significant level.
But before that I have been spending up to 5 hours daily shifting orders, roaming through the universe, making mission, having good deals, having freaking bad days etc.

It is impossible to build a fortune in one day.
Though it is possible to loose everything with one click.

I contract/channel trade, which means I still haven't quite escaped the isk/hour trap, except now I'm limited by available buy/sell opportunities as well as time. Pays better than missions if you have 2-3bil in capital, but, nothing compared to the market folks. Margins have fallen somewhat as more people have piled in over the last year.

. . . So how much do you make?

That's mediocre at best. I submit an rl expert opinion for 2.500 , takes me 5 hours to write. I can then buy 160 GTC with that money, and sell for 50 billion. Makes 10 billion for 60 mins rl time spent, 3.3 billion for 20 minutes. Your 150m for 20 mins rl time spent look quite lousy compared to that, like a huge time waste.

I was going to ask what kind of work you do that you can make 2.500 in 5 hours, then I saw your corp and decided it must be your RL corp as well. No wonder you're rolling in dough YARRRR!!

I make about 300-500 mil a day during the week, and 500-1bil on the weekends.

This is all with one trade character that I autopilot around while I'm pirating with two other accounts. I probably put about 30 minutes a day into actually managing him.

Currently I manage a max 129 orders

Sell order total: ~13 Bil
Buy order total: ~1 Bil

I have 6 accounts, all of which are free due to the income, and are payed for in isk for the next 6 months. I honestly can't even play that many characters, in reality im just training them and will most likely sell them on the forums at some point in the future.

I've been playing eve off and on for about 5 years, and it wasn't until about 6 months ago that i finally sat down and did the research needed to make some decent isk, with almost no effort.

I started buying items, in small amounts (test groups if you will) and taking them to different hubs to see how well they sold, and what kind of profit margin I could get. After about a month of running test groups I had established a number of items that i knew I could base my income off of. Then I bought them and their variants in very large numbers in jita, and lowered the profit margin to kill off competition.

I buy everything in Jita, I never sell there. And I also buy on my terms, by setting buy orders and getting the items at the price I want, then i can squeeze out the competition easier at my destination hubs. (this gets tedious sometimes though, jita IS market warfare)

Even though my alt can build damn near everything in the game, I don't manufacture anything. I just buy in bulk, ship, and mark it up. This trick is taking the time, to do the research, and figure out where things will actually sell. Once you've mapped out the "off hubs" or niche markets you get rich FAST.

Every once in a while i introduce a new item, and see if it sells...

Well I spend most of my time on my PVP accounts and chatting on Vent, But I allways have my trade account window open, that char Never undocks from station in Jita I ajust orders through out the day and make 170 mil a day ATM but I will be happy with 500.

Im working with something similar, a little twice that in capital, but my daily profit is near zero. Instead of trying to pump my wallet up more, I now have started a new scheme I call "What corporation can I topple this month and which merc outfit is going to be rich today"

Yeah. It does get like that though. The more you have and make, the less you want to lose. Its like there is this narrow band between not being able to replace anything, and being able to replace everything with ease in which people are willing to pewpew and generally spend isk.

Im new to trading, my profit is not much for the amount of time i put in but i still earn a few mill here and there.
But whats best aproach, buy low and haul it and sell it or buy low and put it back up on the market, then clue myself to the monitor and and change the order every now and then?
Should i trade minerals, mods, ships or all of them?

It's a jungle out there and im kind of lost.

I'd be surprised if some folks are making as much ISK as they say there are.

Sure, some will always just have "the knack" for reading the Market trends and almost always being in the right place at the right time to cash in on the next trend. I don't doubt that for one minute and it's cool if you can do it.

However, I've watched some good opportunities evaporate over the last two weeks as mineral prices have moved up and retail prices have been forced down by large scale competition.

Case in point, the price of Mexallon has gone up while the SELL price on Harbingers has bottomed out to pretty much meet most peoples' production cost -- and no, I'm not one of those folks who believe minerals are "free" if you mine them yourself.

The only guys who are likely still making money on Harbs are the folks who dumped 100 at a time in Amarr and flattened the market - LOL.

Fine by me, I'm not a manufacturer or miner, but I do like to keep an eye on the Markets anyway, and that is just one example of what I'm talking about.

So, as I said, I'm finding it harder and harder to believe folks can make 100M a day unless they are chain-ratting in really good 0.0 space, are selling PLEX daily, or have a huge and efficient industrial setup to dominate the Market and nuke the competition. Twisted Evil

Seriously tho... You can make 100M a day with little effort. Even if you have low capital (300M-400M is more than enough).

Well i noticed this myself.A year ago i would spend all my isk on ships/mods/skillbooks and such.Never really saved up for anything.

Now i can buy myself a mothership with ease and have enough to get a new one once it blows up , yet yesterday i had to buy a 5 million isk skill for my 2nd char.I doubted for about 30 minutes if she really needed it or not.

Afterwards it puzzled me why am i being so cautious with my isk when a year ago i bought myself dread/carrier/rorqual skills with allmost every isk i had yet never even have flown a dread and the rorqual i only used once then sold it to buy a chimera.

The more you have the harder it get's to actually spend that ingame currrency.

In all honesty i am not a good trader, mediocre at most but i earn more then when i would be ratting in 0.0.So if some 'big guys'in here claim they make 500 mille a day then i'll believe it because i know what i get in a day and i know how limited my view on the market is.

So i am assuming that if you don't believe it then you probably have even a shorter insight on the market then me.

Exampleso you 'may' see what i mean:

I made 50 million in jita this morning on 7 items.I was behind the laptop mostly 15 minutes when i count all the times i updated. The rest of the time i was shopping with the kids/playing with my son and his cars/doing some cleaning in the house.
That is only 7 items , so 7 orders.I have about 500 other orders going regional. That should give you some insight of the daily profits we are talking here and i only do reprocessing items. So those trading with 'named'items and T2 probably earn a hell of a lot more then me.

I can see some people will see it as bragging on what one earns a day but for traders it is nice to see what the competition actually is making a day and how much one 'could' be making if you actually go deeper into the market.

Some great info, and thanks for the replies.

So, does anyone make in excess of 1B a day, every day?

If so, what do folks view as the best way to achieve that? Pure market trading? A mix of manufacturing and trading?

Be into everything, constantly scale up, and be innovative and original. If you really want to make it happen, the number above is certainly attainable.
