hey
First of all i cant find the damn search funktion if some one culd point me to it id get happy as a puppy.

second a queston that must have been answerd before but i havent found any answer on.
why have missile spec. alot less skills to train up to cruise than all other guns have to large spec, its month diferance in the skill tree?

allso the same thing about shield and armour skills armout takes alot longer than shield?

To me this seems verry unbalanced, or is the game ment to start play as caldari and then skill other races ships?

1) when you get railgun spec, you are 10 minutes from blaster spec. when you get cruiser spec, you are a month away from torpedo spec. caldari can specialise a bit faster (1 skill rank5 to lvl 5 with less prerequisites BUT they have to train a whole new skill rank 5 if they want to use the other version of the same weapon size), but other races will have more choice at that point (1 skill rank 5 at level 5 for all, but it has bad prerequisites)

2) shield: Shield Operation (rank 1), Shield Upgrades (rank 2), Shield Management (rank 3), Tactical Shield Management (rank 4), Shield Compensation (rank 2)

armor: Repair Systems (rank 1), Hull Upgrades (rank 2)

Armor is a lot longer to train? =.=

Also, Capital Armor Repper -> prerequisite Repair Systems (rank 1), Hull Upgrades (rank 1), Mechanic (rank 1) at 5 (mostly skills you'd train at 5 by default)
Capital Shield Repper -> prerequisite Shield Operation (rank 1) and Tactical Shield Management (rank 4) at 5 (lol?)

so... lol?

missiles train faster because there are more types than with guns.

if you use guns you have small, medium and large guns. that is 3 types ... 1 for frigs, 1 for cruisers and 1 for BS class ships.

with missiles its 2 types for frigs , 2 types for cruisers , 2 types for BS and 2 more types for all together (FOF and defender).

so to use all guns of your race you learn 3 skills and to use all missiles you learn 8 skills.

That's true for small guns...

but those are battleship size weapons.

Torpedoes are rank 4.

Prereq at level 5 are the same: torps (rank 4) + cruise missile (rank 5) vs. small guns (rank 1) + med guns (rank 3) + large guns (rank 5).
Lvl 4 prereqs that are problem for carebears and noobs. None vs. 2 x small specs + 2 x medium spec.

Missiles aren't guns. They have advantages and disadvantages.

For instance, let's compare Surgical Strike with Warhead Upgrades...

...if you think training for missiles is a better idea than train for gunnery, then by all means do so.

i just did a quick test in evemon on my alt.

Made a plan for:
All Missile Specs IV
Large Artillery/Autocannon Spec IV

After suggested learning the training times were:
174 days for the gunnery
213 for missiles.

Adding all support to IV gets us to:
192 days for gunnery
247 for missiles.

So from that one might argue that gunnery is faster, but the thing is, you still need to go a full diffrent path, adding around 60 days for a diffrent races guns, Also, I don't think a lot of people will need all t2 missile launchers.

Guns force you to train the small, medium then large weapons. Missiles let you jump around all you want, which means you can be mission running in a raven very quickly. All you need are those shield tanking skills.

Shield tanking skills take about the same as armour skills. You need Armour Upgrades 5 as an armour tanker, while t2 hardeners only require Tactical Shield Mani 4. I personally have trained up both.

They are just different. If you wanted to train every single missile system, you would end up training alot more than a gunnery player. But training just one is alot quicker.

Not really.

ARMOR :
Mechanic ( Rank 1 )
Hull Upgrades ( Rank 2 )
Repair Systems ( Rank 1 )
EM Armor Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Explosive Armor Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Kinetic Armor Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Thermic Armor Compensation ( Rank 2 )

SHIELD :
Shield Operation ( Rank 1 )
Shield Upgrades ( Rank 2 )
Shield Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Shield Management ( Rank 3 )
Tactical Shield Manipulaton ( Rank 4 )

EM Shield Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Explosive Shield Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Kinetic Shield Compensation ( Rank 2 )
Thermic Shield Compensation ( Rank 2 )

7 skill for Armor, with highest rank 2
9 skills for Shield, with highest Rank 4

Some people say, you don't need all those at 5, true. But you want Shield Management 5 for T2 SBA's. and you want Shield Compensation 4, or even 5 to reduce the cap usage for shield boosters.

Up to BS sized weapons...

Effectively maxed out gunnery skills for Hybrids: Supports at 5, AWU 5, Large Hybrid specs to 4 = 10 Million SP.

Effectively maxed out missile skills: Supports at 5, AWU 5, Cruise, Torp, HAM, HML, Standard, Rocket specs to 4 = 14.5 Million SP.

Effectively maxed out gunnery skills for all guns: Supports at 5, AWU 5, Large Laser, Large Hybrid, and Large Projectile specs to 4 = 18 Million SP.

Things are balanced fine. The quick specialization w/missiles comes at the cost of more SP intensive diversification.

Gunnery support skills can be used for all races guns. If you decide to train amarr cause it rox and your gallente boat sucks, you don't have to train all the gunnery support skills, since you had trained them for your blasters.
If your a caldari missile-user who likes to do the same, your missile support skills are worth nothing.

Here is the search function. I'm serious. The built-in one on the forums is less than helpful in most cases. The site I linked works much better.

I hate missiles by this reason.
