My FPS is garbage since Apoc came out and I'm shopping for a new system.
For those that would know (I can't find a real answer on this): consider that both systems are the same with the exception of the video cards. Which would be better?
SLi, Dual nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB OR (single)nVidia GeForce GTX 280 1024MB

Single 280 or 295 if you have the money... that way you have more options for future expansion... and its an overall better card |

I am not an expert on this, so take it with a grain of salt. Single client, the GTX... two or more clients on 2 or more monitors, the GTs.

I run 2 clients fine on 2 monitors with a single 8800GT. Just have to make sure the second one is set to use the secondary display adapter. Personally I'd always go for a single card unless I had an excess of money to waste. |

If its just for eve it doesnt and will prob never sport duel cards, but one 9800 gt 512 runs it nicely, will get you some fps numbers later. if yo intend running other things which can take advantage of sli then i imagine the duel would be better (two gfx processers would far out weigh the extra 512 ram you get off the other card). If its just for eve just get a single 9800 (you can get a 1024mb ram one too) for now and save some money if you buy a sli capable board anyway you could always upgrade it later. |

I was under the impression that SLi effectively made 2 cards act as one. I do agree that getting one card seems the better choice, but a 295 or 4870 are overpriced at this point and I'd rather go with a 280 or 4850.
I know that EVE has nVidia logos posted all over, but will EVE run just as well on either brand? I'll be playing other games, but EVE will be the primary. |

Quotes from the FanFest nVidia guy says that SLi doesn't work with eve unless the client is in fullscreen mode. |
