Edited by: Phem Nuwan on 05/03/2009 20:13:53 Hi CCP. I have a very nice log to send you. Here are the highlights:
1. Started logserver 2. Left Nourv with a fleet of 29 and flew down to OMS 3. Huge fight at an OMS gate with hundreds and hundreds of "Out of sequence packet delivery" messages in my logserver. 4. My ship instantaneously melts without me even being targeted. 5. I see "Entering session" message or whatever you see when entering pod, about ELEVEN TIMES. 6. My client freezes up completely for 30 seconds, nothing responds to mouse. I can still talk on EVE voice chat though. 7. I start to regain control a bit and after 20 seconds of mashing the "warp to 0" button (that isn't even lit up) I warp my pod out. 8. I fly back to Nourv in my pod. 9. This is the weird part, I still have 2-3 fps on the whole trip back from OMS. I have a very nice dual core CPU with 2 GIGs of RAM and a 7900. I'm running with every single graphics setting (except LOD) off. 10. I docked at Nourv (still 2-3 fps...) and shut down the log server.
It's 87 Megs... what should I do with it?
Edit: I should also mention that I'm a Canadian, and I participated in the European lag fest, so that might give you some additional perspective. |

Similar case with me... I found that odd too; already out of the battle but lag still persists... |

:) You blew up my Blackbird. Nobody even had points on me as far as I know, but I was so lagged and between the "entering space" spam (I got the same thing you did) and the other hideous lag I couldn't warp out at all. Then I spent literally fifteen minutes trying to warp my pod out, including lots of warp presses and even some autopilot, but eventually I got scrambled (?) and blown up. I have no idea how they managed that when my pod wouldn't even enter warp (and I even had the autopilot trying it at that point), but oh well. Definitely an, uh, unique experience. I guess lesson learned is log off if your pod is taking fifteen minutes to warp. I was running the Mac client so I can't inundate you with logfiles, but it's really nice to see a developer engaging with the community. :) |

I still had lag sitting at the gate for a good 10 minutes after the main fight had ended. Cleared up gradually (probably after all the drones were cleared up ) but even warping about in villore it wasnt quite right... p.s. Great fight, even though I think I was the first to die |

FW has the funkiest lag in town! Did anyone get the constant refresh and duplication of overview? That is my personal favourite |

That happened to me after a few minutes of lagging. I only actually got to shoot at one target. Near the end of the battle my logserver crashed. Any way I can recover the data it recorded ? |

Duplicated OV here also (lol, duplicate my dongue, there was like 10 of everyone of you), combined with the oh-so-lovely side order of entering ship. CTRL-Q'd because logserver was taking up huge amounts of cpu power, but got some good material I believe. Logged back in and heroically lost my pod. Got 1 kill doing that tho.
I guess the goal of this OP was achieved, and a bit beyond too. |

Thats exactly what happen to me as soon as i jumped from Villore to OMS to take part in the fight... It was imposible to target or do anything for about 10 minutes. And even tho the fight was over within those 10 minutes, my screen kept freezing and the interface wasnt working. Only after i restarted my Client things got back to normal. |

Unfortunately, my E-Mail Client is convinced that the Logserver Data File has a Virus even though I've scanned it repeatedly with my own Virus Scanner (AVG), otherwise CCP would have another 14Mb of Compressed Data from that fight.
This happened to several of us too, I think there's something in the logfile format that ticks off some heuristic virus scanners. So I don't think you have to worry about infecting anyone with it, but you might have to use another webmail if it doesn't let it through. |

My lag wasnt actually that bad, Ive had much worse. Got the old boarding ship thing and a massively duplicated overview, warped out and warped back in and it was fine, got on about 10 km's and even got my drones back. |

Good work to everyone on this. Kudos to Space Pervs for organising this, as this is exactly the sort of thing that is going to help rid FW of lag. With all those logs being sent to CCP, it should give them a good idea of how best to address the issue, and from multiple standpoints.
I just missed this little event by 3 minutes, which annoyed me a little, but I'll get over it.
It may be worth doing this again at some point, perhaps at a peak time on a weekend (maybe a friday or saturday night) to put some real pressure on it. Maybe one or two smaller confrontations in different systems, too.
If we're going to involve ourselves in the diagnostic process, we might as well have a little fun into the bargain. |
