Please use this thread for feedback about your experiences with Scene2 on Singularity.

Scene2 has been fully integrated into the Eve client and is always enabled now.

Please ensure drivers are updated for graphic cards and sound cards!!

Patch notes: Apocrypha Preliminary Patchnotes

Summary of what Scene2 covers:
  • Station Interiors

  • New models found in space

  • Sun, Planets and Moons

  • New asteroids

  • Tactical Overview

  • New Effects (such as turrets, shield boosting, armor repairing)

    • Target Painter, Webifier, and Cargo Scanner effects are still missing from the client

  • Icons for ships, stargates, stations (specifically icons which contain a nebula in the background)

  • Billboards

  • Audio


What doesn't Scene2 cover?
  • User Interface (such as the HUD, overview, chat/item windows)

  • Tech3 ships

  • Scanning and Wormholes (Linkage)

  • Fitting Screen


Known Issues for build 6.10.80627:
  • Changing the client resolution may cause the client to freeze. Restarting the client resolves this issue

  • Enabling HDR or changing Bloom settings may freeze the client. Restarting the client fixes this

  • Outpost models are missing from the current sisi build 6.10.80627

  • Changing Shader and Texture settings may cause the client to crash once logged in. Restarting the client will load the newly applied settings

  • Players using SM2.0 graphics cards will be unable to load the game when their characters are in a station. Docking in a station works. Workaround is to be in space before logging off

  • Closing the Star/Solarsystem Map causes models to disappear

  • The fitting window screen is white for Geforce FX 5000 series graphics cards

  • The screen may turn gray when starting at a billboard from a certain angle with Shader set to Medium and Bloom enabled. Disabling bloom is a temporary workaround.

  • Audio effects have not yet been renovated for missiles or ship explosions

All effects are missing no matter how I tweak settings. Vista x64 with 181.20 nvidia drivers.

Same here no fx at all, planets are some time w/out texture, sometimes i have white flashes on screen.

the new billboards are kinda cool, at first i tought were bugged (for lack of polygons ehehe)

edit: the thorax is not centered in station.

It looks like the effects didn't make it into the Sisi client yet. They will not be available until a future patch.

Same for me almost all effects are missing and something is causeing a large slowdown for 10 seconds after undock.

I suffered complete graphics breakdown, I have submitted a bug report with details.


Additionally I think there should be some kind of kind of effect (such as the RGB screen dots) on the new bill boards. To show that they are infact billboard. At first I thought it was a glitch. They just look like a big jpeg floating in space.

There are some problems with scene2 on my computer. Missing sun, probes, sentries, tactical overlay. on star map i can see only names of regions. On solar system map there are only breckets. Moreover when map mod on i still see my ship, planets.

Trying to change video settins is whithout result.
But when i press esp i saw on the background all missing objects. But when i press esc again all objects still missing


and i've got some more problem? when i try scan only cosmic signatures Ui tell me that i' havent got enough skils to scan so many groups.... Ive got astrometrics at 3 and i choose onli one groop

Reinstall video driver - zero result
Reinstall DirectX - same effect

ATI radeon x1300 my video card

Ps also i've seen screenshots from other players where i didn't see this troubles

Many planets are blank, or white with wierdly shaped atmosphere for me too. FPS is erratic at best and no effects are in place. Many many models missing, such as probes. The solar system map is also broken as mentioned above.

Was unable to load space. Got a grey screen, frozen computer.

Once every 30s or so screen would update and UI elements either came or went, key commands registered with PC at time if these updates.

Closed client (thank god for window mode or whole PC would need restart), restarted tweaking shader models, no change - deselected scene2 and everything works fine.

The new asteroids are lame.

Why do different asteroid types have to have such wildly different looks?
Why do they all have a glossy material shader?
Why don't they cast softer dynamic shadows when further from the star?
Why don't the textures scale up for the larger asteroids?
Why do asteroid belts follow the same illogical layout?
Why don't any of the asteroids rotate or drift? (would make dynamic shadows more obvious)
Why do the pit marks and craters have such poor normal mapping?
Why do some asteroids gleam with such bright colors (Veldspar)?
Why aren't the shapes generated more dynamically?

This: Same situation, but i'm running server 2003, and 94.xx drivers (Any newer refuse to install). Exact same solution, disabling scene2 took away the graphical corruption, slowdown and crashing.

Wild looks: Fine by me. They're shards afterall.
Gloosy material: Yeah, that's just wrong. They're rocks damnit.
Softer shadows: There is no such thing as soft shadows in space.
Texture scaling: Yeah, ugh, the large ones look horrible.
Illogical layout: Will be fixed with the advent of planetary rings. We'll have to live with it for a bit more :/
Rotation: Why the HECK did you leave this out? The old roids rotated, why can't these?? It would be awesomesauce!
Poor normal maps: Well...they're ok-ish. I guess it's a mem preservation thingy. There's a LOT of roids.
Gleaming: Uh...wut? No gleaming going on here. Not here either.

Wild looks: Was referring to the textures, not the models.
Soft shadows: And why not?
Normal maps: So? Fleet battles are bigger, and there's such thing as LOD.
Gleaming: Check veldspar. Also try it with bloom.
Shapes: I didn't say they were ugly, but they're not dynamic. In one small belt I saw multiple roids of the same shape.

when bloom is on high , when you randomally looking at things .. the blooms will melt you face and you cant see anything on the billboard because the bloom... but it look nice with ships

i noticed that with scene2 there are no more little specks while you are warping.
previously these little specs/particles gave you the sensation that you were moving.

now it feels like you are standing still in warp. very major thing imho.

Soft shadowing only occurs with multiple, close range lightsources with cylindrical light. The sun doesn't cause soft shadowing without the atmosphere distortion. (at least that's how I remembered it from the dev blog about shadows on ships)

In the other points, points taken. Fair enough.

WinXP, NVIDIA 7950 GTX GO (Dell XPS M1710 Laptop), running latests available drivers, eve at highest shadow and highest bloom.

Ugly background at highest gfx settings premium, look at the clearly visible layers in the (what look like) slicks, it's even more apparent in game. Gives a painted feeling instead of a real environment feeling.

There seem to be framerate issues when warping to a gate.

I've seen 1 planet so far and it was white like poolball white with a white nebuela, could it be a texture that didnt load?

Also experienced major sound related crashes which seemed to relate to eve making directx go nuts (person talking to me on vent went into autorepeat for a full minute whilst eve crashed.

Edit: disabled scene2 and crashes/black/grey/dimmed screen issue is gone

This has been in eve for quite some time. Backgrounds are getting updated later on (not this expansion) I think.

Planet textures appear to be completely missing on my client.

EDIT: ok not all planet textures are missing, but some are.

many models dont display, im having frequent trinity.dll related crashes and im running a geforce 9800GTX card, i crash anytime a loki or legion t3 ship comes on screen. Will bug report after a bit more testing.

Planetary rings seem to show through the planet again... makes me dizzy.

Icons for drones are fubar, icons for most Amarr ships look 'compressed' horizontally (or stretched vertically :P)

Edit: Oh, and CLEAR icicles should be clear. Now they look like dirty rocks :P

The occlusion on the new billboards is a bit screwy - they disappear from rendered view when they're only 80 or 90% off the screen. Bug report filed.

Should we submit bug reports for particle effects when we know they're not done yet? I flew over to the destroyed CONCORD station in Yulai and...ow. Serious FPS hit on my very good graphics card + can't see the station model under the glow.
