Just a thought I had recently. It's a hair difference than most ideas similar, so just read through.

Basically it would be a station service, but not in every station. Maybe just Logistics stations or Manufacturing stations.

So you have a crapload of stuff and you need to move it all. (Moving mission locations, corp is moving, too much stuff for you/alt/corp to move/no access to freighters)

Once you hire the npc, a window similar to the trade window will pop up. You click and drag all your items you wish to move into the window, and the NPC will charge you based on how much m3 you're moving and how many npc ships are needed.

Once done, you can wait on it, or you can just go ahead and have them move it. There's one catch. You have to physically move yourself to the destination. Once you start the move via the NPC Hauler Service window, you have to undock. The NPCs will "undock" with you, and will go into warp whereever you go, similar to Fleet/Gang warps. When you get to a stargate, you jump, and the NPC's jump as well.

You get to your destination with the haulers, and the NPC Hauler Service window will pop up automatically once all the NPCs are docked. You click the "Accept Freight" icon, and the goods are dropped to your hangar.

So just a revision of the NPC hauling ideas I've seen in the past. At least with this way, it requires active participation by the Employer, thus helping keep the player in the game. Wink

Courier Contracts?

Or make friends with someone who can fly a hauler?

It is a multiplayer game after all. Why rely on the NPCs to do everything for you?

Very Happy

It could/would work as courier contract. Make there be collateral level per haul (automated), and an automated compensation for hauling. Newbies would fast find mini profession of hauling in the empire. Just needs some details ironed out but the main idea is worth implementing.

No. You're taking player interaction and removing it in favor of an easy-access NPC service.

Hell no.

Do you mean interacting with other players? Think that through...If a player has made friends, that will haul for them...then they have the reward of getting their stuff moved for free. If a player goes solo, whom is he to trust other than his alt with moving his stuff? Confused

Hell no? Well I say **** your opinion. YARRRR!!Razz

They wouldn't do everything for you, you would have to physically travel/escort them to your destination.

It could mean having a friend haul it for free, or it could be hiring a guy with a freighter to haul it for you.

As far as trust: that's what courier contracts are for.

So why not set up a courier contract? Also, your idea would make flying a freighter as a player abso****inglutely useless.

only if I can shoot those haulers without getting concorded. Last i checked the regular npc haulers can be attacked and you won't get concorded (only the empire navies will attack you). This brings up another point, you couldn't exactly take a minmatar hauler fleet into amarr space =). And as one final punishment npc's can't use warp to 0.

hmmm I seem to be channeling my inner carepirate this morning.

you arnt meant to go solo.

all together now: "the second M in MMO is multilayer"

however

you could ask a local freighter pilot. i would put up collateral for your stuff and move it for 250k a jump, no low sec.

im sure most other freighter pilots are similar.
