As far as I'm aware moon mining does not need sov to work. As far as 'but the towers get spanked' goes I highly doubt that in current situation moon mining towers are sitting high in target priority list for big players trying to maximise the use of 'window of opportunity'.

And securing a dysprosium moon worth untold billions is not a "window of oppertunity" Question

I'm just saying that if you have option to knock out systemful of large towers in station system or going for capital shipyard building a supercapital the dyspo moon tower might not be the highest priority in the list. It sure would be mopped up eventaully but if you know you have limited time to do the maximum damage ... losing a bit income for some weeks aint that stellar damage.

Mannnnnn - you have some SUPER HUGE errors!!!

Current prices means a dysprosium moon = 12-16 BILLION ISK PER MONTH.

PER MONTH.

You wonder how an alliance can afford to field and lose cap fleets?! Your purchases of T2 ships (demand for dysprosium) fuels their economy.

Every HAC etc goes towards some big alliance's Titan.

When they lost sov - the supercap production STOPPED. All mins were LOST. The 2 Titans they had cooking - *poof* along with the 160 billion worth of Tritanium etc.

Sooooo - no point in attacking super cap ship yards.

Target number 1 for small fry gangs are evacuating members.

Target number 1 for people wanting to PWN THE MARKETZ is the dysprosium moons!!! There is so much CHAOS and PANIC that the dysprosium market is out of whack.

Speculators are going to drive the price sky high!

T2 ships will be unaffordable!!

I'd like to see some Tech 1 ship suggestions in the post-tech 2 world!!!

ZOMG - You are ARROGANT!! Not everyone has a high sec mission whoring alt (or some other lame risk-free carebear isk printer). 200 MIL is A LOT for the average casual player!

Ofc you must be a moon miner so a 1-2 billion isk marauder is probably peanuts to you - and you think everyone else can afford their own planet under the sun.

You make me SICK!

How would you like it if the things you used in game went up double in price?!
That would mean you could afford to use them 1/2 as often.

HAC's were 200 mil a piece due to the BPO monopoly - it was restricting to people. Sure they could fly them - but not many could afford to use them as often. CCP introduced invention to bring about more competition and the result is more widespread use of these ships. People had isk printing machines with their T2 BPO's which is pretty weak for a video game - you should have to actively engage the game to make a lot of money - not get lucky.

I think it would be pretty lame to see a game of only frigates, battlecruisrs and battleships, because their specialized cousins became extinct thanks to overpriced moon minerals.

I hope people will pick something better than fleets of Drake to pvp in.

Bob controlled a lot of dyspro, but I think most people are overestimating the impact of their supply being interrupted. My guess is the market will be something like this for dyspro:

Day 0: 150k
Day 1: 250k
Day 2: 230k
Day 3: 200k
Day 4: 175k
Day 5: 155k
Day 50: 160k

You do realize that even with all this screaming and shouting you are not telling people what will REALLY happen.

1. OMG/EEK/Scare/Etc...
2. Prices go up
3. Someone starts up T2 production again, prices are insane
4. Someone else starts his own line of T2 production to get a piece of the pie
5. Person 1 and 2 play the market game, price goes down as more players enter the market game
6. Situation back to normal

Now, sit back, breath deep, and just take your hands away from the keyboard for a while... you obviously need to take a break and not start typing a reply straight away.

Edit:

He got it in before me, but it boils down to the same thing.

you said it yourself, if the prices go bananas everyone will start mining dysp like crazy, thereby driving the prices down again. And eve stabbilizes, again.

I thought when the moon mining exploit was "discovered" the prices started to go insane, and we're not even completely through with THAT market hiccup.

I'm pretty sure it will take some time til we see stable prices again, and they probably will be somewhere between the invention-era-low and the bpo-era-high.

You're assuming people will go into production because the prices of sold products are high.

However that's just producer passing the buck onto you the consumer. Higher prices for tech 2 ships does not equal higher profits. They're making the same or less (to try to compete) profit wise.

Eventually more and more people will leave T2 production because high material costs. Current insanity -> leads to high sale prices -> which lowers demand -> which leads to lower profits to compete till failure.

Ofc less producers then reduce demand for moon minerals - so their prices will go down.

But that will take a loooong time. Long enough that some people may want to figure out some tech 1 alternatives to T2 ships at their bloated prices.

Well, basically it's pretty straightforward, innit?

For everything frigsized you just take a rifter (apart from the stealthbombers ofc), for the HACs you get the according BC. Fit the BC like you fit the HAC and use the extra slots you have to get more scanres/agility.

It's a hardish to substitute the vagabond, it seems, but for most of the stuff you have an according BC.
Well, there is the fleet stabber, and the price is not dependant on t2 production.

It will be a bit tricky to substitute recons, but yeah, you get the idea.

edit: and I'm not saying the sky will be falling. Maybe t2 ships will be available just fine.

To be honest, if ship prices on T2 ships really did soar, the Falcon would probably only become more prominant as it is the only T2 ship worth investing in seeing as it rarely pops.

Atleast when used by a good pilot ;)

If HAC's were to go to 200 million again which I doubt will happen, it wouldn't make a difference 200 million is small money and people WILL keep on buying them unless T3 is the better option.

No, I don't have high sec mission whoring alt.
No, 200 mil is not much at all. In fact, considering polycarbon rig prices there is no much difference: 100 mil for HAC + 110 mil for rigs or 200 mil for HAC and 20-30 mils for another pair of rigs (excluding prices on T2 modules).

Just be more careful flying your ships and you will be fine.

Sky isn't falling. ;)

P.S. There were days when vaga costed 500 mils and ISK value back then was higher than it is now.

Look for HACs to peak around 200 eventually, and even then that would be in the remote areas where prices spike higher regardless. In Jita I wouldn't expect them to climb much past 160-170 before starting to fall and settle around 110-120.

this really isn't as big of an issue as people are making it out to be. if you all switch to T1 you'll just drive the prices up on those...then you'll whine about that and switch to another ship, etc etc etc. just cool your jets and get the ships you ACTUALLY want, so it takes you a bit longer to afford, woopeedoo, that's what insurance is for. and if you can't hold onto that lovely T2 long enough to turn a profit on it, you really shouldn't be flying it.
