So BOB got rolled over by a director. And Goons is patting themselves on their back for a job well done. Is it really? Did they destroy BOB through tactics? strategy? straight up fighting? No. It was one BOB director who "jumped the fence" and destroyed an alliance.

Doesn't this bother anybody? And when the same thing happens to Goons, then what? Who will be the hero and who will be the villain then?

There was no victory here today. Just some player who will remain infamous for being a turncoat in a GAME. So he destroyed BOB (not goons). Big deal. Coz if there's no BOB to hate, who are you gonna fight next? I suppose Goons is the new villain in the game? And how will you feel WHEN it happens to you. After all, if it happened to BOB, it can happen to you as well. Turncoats are aplenty in this game which has no mechanics whatsoever to prevent such things from happening. Also, is this victory really all that pleasing? You go to sleep one night, wake up the next day, and your enemy ceases to exist... all because a thief stole everything and gave it to you.

I have read in numerous places in the forum of how much BOB players hate Goons and vice versa. I always thought that there was at least a measure of mutual respect between the parties recognising each other as a force to be reckoned with. But it would seem, this isn't the case. So much for the "gf" messages in local after a fight. Forget about all these false messages of respect. Maybe "stfu" after each fight is a more true expression after each fight, eh? Be honest :)

I could not help but smile whenever I pass a Goon pilot shouting "we won eve! we won eve!". Think about this: you won eve? good for you. And since you won eve, there's really nothing to play in eve anymore, is there? I mean, since you won, the game is over, rite?

So I now ask myself yet again... why play this game anymore? For small peeps like me who enjoy playing the game as a game, all this real-life political espionage and server hacking and such is really sad. Most people play this game to get away from all that real-world nonsense.

The fault really lies with CCP who has not done anything to put a stop to all this nonsense. Why should they? Drama draws more players... until people start leaving because of all the drama. A great game is headed out the window. A very unfortunate ending.

Love BOB or hate BOB. It doesn't really matter. I just hope we won't be looking back fondly in the near future thinking "BOB's downfall was the end of Eve".

P.S. Good news for CCP is that they don't have to reenforce their nodes anymore. I suspect there's not gonna be any epic fights coz there's now an all-powerful Goonswarm.

Bob the name is dead however the entity that used to be bob is alive and kicking and probably a bit ****y atm. Meanwhile the forces of darkness plot their smash and grab ops to take advantage of the system sov being nullified. There is going to be some fierce fighting in the coming days unless Goonswarm or others just sit and spin as they let bob regroup and get its sov back. Will be interesting times indeed. ugh

Do you think the people involved just turned in to vapor and disappeared? It sounds like you do, which means you either are an idiot, have no idea how EVE works or are just trolling.

Yeah, being able to do things like this in a sandbox mmo is completely rubbish and CCP should immediately curtail all activity that does not involve simply pew pewing each other ad naseum so we can all have more fun.

had a conversation with a friend a few hours ago that is part of an alliance. he pointed out the stuff that the op did.

of course it was a cheap win. no one beat bob to death, they cheesed them out of the game. however they destroyed bob with an in game feature. its not goons fault they pulled the trigger first. I doubt bob would have hesitated to do the same to goons. IF they did have the ability but passed, thats on bob, not goons.

i can't give 2 ****s about either alliance as i have no ties to either. i have no sympathy for bob. unless bob for some reason didn't use spies and other crap i find to be wrong with the game, then i cannot have sympathy as i would have to believe that they would have done the same if given the chance.

its like newscasters trying to drum up sympathy for a dead gang member that was shot on the street by a member of another gang. both are a disgrace, both need to just die or clean up their act. BOTH would have shot the other first, second, third and last had they gotten the jump on the other. one killed the other and I'm supposed to care? kill them all and be done with it. so basically i expect goons to fall next.

The problem is that ccp has left this as an in game feature. spying, stealing and cheating are fair game, its the "cold reality of eve" that they feed us. CCP could have fixed the loopholes if it wanted but patching vulnerabilities doesn't generate drama.

well, i doubt ccp saw this coming ahead of time. i doubt its going to be good for bussiness no matter what way they rule. if they go for leaving bob as is, bob players are going to leave with their alts. if they rule in bob's favor then a lot of random players will get up and leave.

I don't want to play a game where a certain group of players get special treatment for any reason. chribba-gate rightfully ****ed of players that saw it as 1 person getting special rights in game. that was 1 person with a harmless capship so imagine the questions that will arise if ccp revives bob and basically rolls the server back a few days?

if ccp wants to fix that feature that was working as intended but is no longer convientient then they can. however bringing bob back will be a blow internally, meaning the player base as well as a bad PR move. gamers considering eve will think twice about bothering since the developer will be seen as favoring a group of players over others , basically making them invincible.

either way ccp is going to lose accounts, its just how does ccp want to be seen in a week? do they want to be seen as devs of a game with a harsh reality, permanent losses and treachery built into the game? OR do they want to be seen as the wannabe wow in space game developers? all of the years of the devs and the player base selling eve as a cutthroat mmo gets flushed down the toilet.

unless someone hacked an account or the game, i believe bob is going to have to stay dead for the good of eve. it sucks for bob players of course but i doubt bob was a saint when it came to metagaming and buying off players in high places.Neutral

The beauty of EVE is that you don't have to choose. If you want to play the game without espionage and politics, then go ahead and do so. If you want to play the game with those things, then go ahead and do so. If you don't want to take part in the politics of EVE, then nothing about what has just happened will matter in the slightest to you.

If you, as a non-political player think "why play this game anymore" as a result of something you're not interested in, then the problem isn't with the turn of evets but with your disinterest in (or lack of understading of) the game itself.

No, the fault lies with you for being upset over nothing.

edit:
To answer your question: why play this game anymore? Exactly because it allows this kind of thing, which makes it probably the most outstanding and unique game on the market today. If I ever thought it was going stale (massive updates and expansions aside), today's events prove me wrong.

Finally this happens to someone like BoB..

Have had this happen twice in my EvE career..

I remember petitioning one of the situations to CCP and of course they couldn't/wouldn't do anything cause they allow spies (Bad Game Mechanics) to ruin this game..

Thank you Goons for doing this to BoB.. I feel better about what happened to my corp/alliance in the past.

Good riddance to BoB..

How are industrial espionage and white collar crime in a game a bad game mechanic? Sounds like they have all the bases covered.

That said enough with the stupid questions, if you want to know log in to the damn game and look for christs sake. Its right at the top of the news on the login screen at the moment. YES CCP IS REPORTING ON IT. Nor are they fixing anything that isnt broken.
