With a dying xp pc I was looking forward to rebuilding my home network into linux. I am now debating quitting eve, getting an xbox, and switching my home system to linux.

Would have ran 1 possibly 2 accounts on linux.

Two accounts. At some point soon I am going to bail from Windows entirely-- probably when they ask me to shell out money for the bugfixes that they should have put in Fistula in the first place, that is Windows 7. If Eve isn't running on Linux, you lose 300 per year from me alone, in perpetuity.

I just don't understand why you would want to drop linux support. Linux users tend to be highly-connected loudmouths with wide online networks of acquaintances. There may not be many of us, comparatively, but we undoubtedly influence disproportionate numbers of other people.

Furthermore, linux users are huge geeks who love Star Trek. Thus they should be a perfect target market for Internet Spaceships. If I were CCP I would do the best I could to get the Eve Online client added to the official Ubuntu repositories...

  • 1 Account

  • Arch Linux

  • Wine

  • Good old GF6600 GT

  • Textures: High, Shaders: Low, Bloom: None, HDR off, Shadows off ==> Runs perfectly, no slowdowns.

My friend has more problems with EVE under Windows XP than me on Wine - this is crazy. o_O

Only 2 crashes on station in 1 month, probably due to bug in EVE that should be fixed in Apocrypha 1.1 (Patch notes > User Interface > 2nd position).
