Hey has anyone noticed a bug in the market? I regularly get my items sold for much higher than I was asking for them. The price is usually an item of the same type in the same station but I get the sale due to a lower price but the ISK that comes into my account is the amount the buyer would have paid if they had bought the higher priced competitor.

I spoke to a GM about it but he/she failed to understand.

That's how market mechanics work. You offer a set sum, and a amount of a item you want to buy, and the bot buys up from the cheapest seller up until the "amount" is met. It's the standard way to do things.

Yep, this is a feature, not a bug. :)

So when I place a sale order that is say for 10,000 and my nearest competitor is selling for 50,000 I will always get 50,000 when someone buys my 10,000 sale. That's what you are telling me.

You will be given 50,000 when someone is so stupid to rightclick and buy the 50,000 order instead of your 10,000 one.

99% times the buyer will choose the 10,000 and you will receive 10,000.

Easiest way to figure it out...

Sell orders are an order to your broker to "sell for AT LEAST xyz ISK".
Buy orders are an order to your broker to "buy for AT MOST xyz ISK".

Highest buy and lowest sell orders are processed first.
In case of any ties between same type orders or discrepancies between matcheable buy/sell orders, oldest order preferences get precedence.

Every new player doesn't understand this.

So again, in market tab:

player a Item x : 10.000
player b item x : 50.000.000

Someone clicks (foolishly) on the 50.000.000 row, and buys it. now player a gets 50.000.000 and his 10.000 order dissapears. What remains on market is:

player b item x : 50.000.000

Player a is a happy puppu now, with his 50mil profit :)

I wouldn't necessarily say stupid enough. When buying something like ammunition or minerals in high quantity I won't individually click on the 10 different orders of 1000 or 500 units, instead I find an order with the quantity I need and make sure it's just slightly overprice (usually only a few 0.1 isk difference, and action that.

It buys all the lower ones without me needing to screw around buying the same item 20 times to meet the quantity desired.
