Since the Kazaa network seems to be populated by a bunch of zero file-sharing bandwidth limited ass-munchers, does anyone have any recommendations for a decent P2P programe?

Yeah, I agree with Viceroy on that one, the community seems abit more mature than Kazaa too, if you can find the right hubs

I use bittorrent where I find good torrents, otherwise emule for big files, shareaza for small files.
Of course I only download linux distros and other free stuff.
Azureus (BitTorrent)
emule (edonkey)
Shareaza (gnutella 2)

Bittorrent is always very fast, emule has long queues but works well for big files, you always get them sooner or later, shareaza sometimes fails for big files but is good for rather small files (<100mb) as it rotates the uploads resulting in faster dequeueing and additionally can download from gnutella2 and ed2k networks at the same time (although emule is far better for the ed2k network, I only use the G2 part of shareaza).

Aye, eMule for me.

Played around with eDonkey and then Overnet (serverless equivalent) but eMule is a nicer all-round package and has no ads.

Just a pity ShareReactor *ahem* died Sad

I used to have kazaa lite/light or whatever, but it's really slow. DC++ is a lot better, I don't even have kazaa installed anymore.

Kazaa is prolly the worst P2P program ever. Its slow, you never find what you want and it infects your PC with all kinds of spyware and ****. The light version terrorise you with pop ups.

I use DC++, works pretty fine.

Kazaa lite is a piece of crap. My virus killer would go crazy every ten minutes everytime I fired that up. Best thing you can do with it is uninstall it.

Kazaa is crap. DC++ is the way to go! Just share some gigs and you will gain access to most HUBs, and about anything can be found without too much of a hassle. Good luck.

If you don't have much to share, just join the lower requirement hubbs, then download until you can join a hub that requires you to share more and work your way up. Smile

p2p networks are the scourge of the earth. Gotta use either bittorrent or the best, irc, ftps, or newsgroups, so much cleaner and mostly virius free.

Shocked

Seleene, I love you! I tried this program and on my DSL connection I'm getting downloads of 57kb/sec ALL the time and that's the fastest my connection will go.

P.S: This is Josh's 2nd account - main account was banz0red.
