I am now flying a Harbinger, and thinking to train for Zealot.
So i havent flown the zealot yet. My plan it is to fly it so i can compare both.

in my actual experience (harbinger pilot) i think it is a very capable ship and very versatile(4 mids, drones and a high extra) more tank and more dps and slow than Zealot. Zealot due to itīs superior speed, agility and range, perhaps could be a winner becouse it is easyer for it to matain range. In some situations like dealing with smaller ships at close range the habinger will survive better.

Any way i will to train for Zealot and try it, so i can be sure about my thoughts

Spot on really. The zealot doesn't do well at close range if something's actually paying attention to it. At close range, the harb is better by miles (Web + neut + drones \o/), but the zealot is great because it has more range and the ability to stay there.

I have a question on this:
could it be a solution for the zealot to use FMPII instead of HPII to have a better chance to hit close targets?

I see this question format all the time in forums:
t2(sometimes t1) BC vs HAC

In most scenarios t2 BC has better tank, better damage and is cheaper and insurable.

Brutix vs Deimos
Harbinger vs Zealot
Drake vs Cerberus
Huricane vs Muninn
These 4 are prime examples of BC "power overwhelming" situations.

The HAC's with definitive roles outperform their BC cousins when performing their roles:
Vagabond is fast, Eagle hits to 200km, Ishtar is the pocket Carrier.

Sac does not have a BC counterpart in amarr line up. HAM drake vs Sac is something I've no idea on.

All what I say is valid IF you are content with BC class agility and speed. Then again IF you are content with BC class agility and speed try the tier 1 battleships with nanofibers!

Tier 1 BS's have low price tag and almost always outperform battlecruisers even when with 2-3 nanofibers fitted. They have nearly the same agility and mwd speed as a BC when fitted with 2 or 3 nanofibers.

Of course I know that this is a stupid comparing method. But it is not stupider than comparing BC's with HAC's and saying "That BC can do everything that that HAC does, better, cheaper and insurable". Agility, small sig and speed are very important aspects of eve and they should not be overlooked.

Not really, no. Try it out in EFT - the FMPs can hit a little better at low transversals (400ish) at slightly shorter range (4-5km instead of around 6-7km) but neither of them are hitting for crap at 0-3km.

Fortunately zealots can do nasty things to frigates in the ranges between, oh, 17km and 45km YARRRR!!

The Zealot and the Harbinger are radically different ships, the only reason why people compare them is that they're both amarr and use medium lasers.

I am not a fan of Battlecruisers as I consider them a bastard class between the Cruisers and the Battleships, and I rarely see them performing well. However, the Harbinger can tank and deals a lot of DPS for a very cheap price, insurable too, whereas losing too many Zealots is gonna put a dent in your wallet.
