Today I deceided whilst hunting NPC's to attack an Armageddon that was mining next to me. So there I am in my Moa in a 0.3 system. I attack the guy (he kindly drops me a good 9 heavy drones) and end up podding him (big mistake on the podding due to the sec hit). Well I got a rush from this, it was just like back in December when I started to PvP. So I decided to wander about a few systems looking for targets.

Later that day after a few more kills against other players I decided to check my inbox as it had been flashing for some time. Now I thought it would just be the kill mails... boy was I wrong. Insult after verbal insult from the players whose ships I had destroyed. I don't consider myslef a pirate, well not yet... But is this what you guys and girls have to put up with all the time? If so we need more slots to pettetion this as I filled a in few today. I must give the GM's credit as they have been quick to act.

But common you victims that deem an Eve-mail filled with hate and abuse is needed. Please take a step back as I will enjoy tormenting you with my nice nature every time I see you in local.

Bosie.

Hey bosie,

good to see you join the dark side. Btu you aren't a pirate until you take pleasure in receiving hate mails. we usually compare them and whoever gets the most vitriolic hate mails wins Smile

verbal abuse of any kind over a game is just sad behaviour.
when i started playing eve i hoped that a game of this complexity would create a different sort of gamer. a few month in i realise that i was wrong Shocked

wow, almost went off on one of those psychoanylyzing type posts, glad I caught myself....

though my ponderance, is why do you play this game?

why do you think others play?

do you expect it to be pleasant for them to lose their work, for nothing?

you seem suprised that people would get so upset and hating... why is this suprising to you? to put it simply those behaviors are simply depriving other players of their effort, because you feel like it.

lol, maybe I'm just a wuss, but I know that if I went when I was in my combat loadout, and just randomly blew up some miner, EVEN in 0.0 space, I would feel bad. if they attack me, now thats a different story...

I don't spend effort and time playing the game and getting a bigger better more expensive ship, just for some stranger to come destroy it. that is not enjoyable to me. would you enjoy being ganked by like half a dozen bs's, without cause, before you even finished loading after going through a gate?

I guess what astonishes me is that anyone ever expects anything less than hatred when you for no reason, more or less steal hours, or even days of time and effort from them?

edit: damn... I hope I didn't STILL end up being too psychoanalytical there... or at least was more subtle with it then "derhuh, you got a thorax mean you hung like infant! huhuk!" Rolling Eyes

to me this is a game i have been killed a few times by PvP Pirates but to write them hate mails is just wrong (unless they are writen in-charector from a RP point of view)

to me this is a game and although i got my list of peoble i want to kill (*****cat is on top) i would not write hate mails to anyone (although i have written mails to her when i know she gets killed) also whenever we get ambushed when mining and i lose haullers i always tell them to watch their mouth (their writing in local) as insulting someone because they play the game in another manner then you do is just wrong (That goes for the Forums as well BTW)

come on peoble grow up dont take this stuff personal its a game and even if you lose time its not the end of the world besides you losing that BS makes you want another one (and revenge) and that will keep you in the game

Killing miners would probably get you alot of hate mail, but killing pc rats is the opposite. I've recieved only one realy bad mail from a pc rat i killed and just ignored it and put her on ingore list.

The other mails were very pleasent, some on tactics used and some as congrates. I'd say kill the pc rats if you want realy good pvp. Killing miners is easy, they dont shoot back.

People in this game need to realize that in low security space you can get attacked by PC pirates. Plain and simple. If your mining in a 0.3 by yourself, with no escort, and a PC pirate(s) show up, you better be insured and ready to fight to the end. I'm not a pirate but I respect the PC pirates. I've been podded my PC pirates three times and podded one myself (what a glorious battle we had, my Typhoon vs. his Dominix, much respect given and received).

I'm getting so tired of the whining. Join a corp and do some group mining. Strength in numbers. Simple fact of life here in the real world and in the EVE universe.

youre not a wus! i think same way eve is not only for the harcore pirates who kill evrything that moves but this part of game getds ignored by ccp soloplayers who just wanna anjoi pve get nothing to do cause there only safe spot is empire and if they get intresstet and head out to less sec seks they get asap boned by some guys who just enjoi their part of game badly im sure alot of newbs stop playing game when they loose their first bs they uber hard wprked for to some group banging pc rats.
ccp is in need to give thoose who dont wanna pvp somethign to do like lelv 4 agents oder some spots in empirew they can also hunt npcs (not only frigs and a few cruisas)
evry time i read in forum bout the pirates who ask why getting hate mail and they mean log off is an exploit and why piracy is so hard... i would say piracy is an easy way in game you gank up with other pirates and do you really think that the guys you blowed outa pod thank ya for that andmaybee pay for your ammo you loaded into them??they are angry and i say they have the right for it!

I haven't gotten a single hate mail yet and I've killed a few (not hundreds but a few) miners and people who did not at all expect PvP. About half my victims actually strike up a convo or send an email telling me how they liked my tactics, excuse their mistakes or tell me that they had fun.
I'm not a uber ganker btw. I'm in a frigate and I mostly hunt cruisers so it can go either way and most of the fights are quite entertaining for both sides.
Often when I'm done fighting someone who doesn't have a very much experience I point their mistakes out to them (in a constructive way) and tell them how to avoid or kill me in the future.

Well I have to say I am getting discusted by carachters like this Bosie bragging about attacking on uneven grounds other carachters that are mining or flying Indys.

And then act suprised that his victims have the nerve to bother his mail box with their feeling for him oh and he files a petion crying to to CCP for that pepole is mean to him baaaaahh go to another game if you cant take the heat from your actions.

Carachters like Boise are trash just like in the real world so lets treat them like that.

Confused

So if you play a game that evolves around PvP, risk/reward, war and so on and so forth you are trash in the real world if you play a killer/pirate/warmonger?

Just because I or someone else kills someone does not mean that you should just accept that the person sends hate mails with threats etc. That just shows the person that got killed have a very hard time seperating the game and real life.

If you go a place where there is risk I'd advice you not to fly stuff you can't afford to loose. It not, stay in the safe empire places.

Maybe play a game where nasty ebil PK's cant PK. May I suggest you have a look Here

Err some guns and warp scrambler might just be the secret loadout you are looking for. I could kill an Arma in a frigate if he wasnt shooting back.

Quite easily, im sure.

Arma: Miner II's + AFK + other misc carebare items. Moa: Missiles + guns + a few EW mods = win.

is that so? so the iteron 4 I'll be flying in a couple days here won't haul any better than my iteron 3? and the iteron 5 I'll eventually be flying isn't any better either?

and the BS's I'll be relatively soon, flying won't be able to handle more difficult rats than my thorax can?

aside from the whole accomplishment aspect of having something bigger and fancier...

the graphics when a ship explodes may indeed be cool. but not cool enough for me to put that much time and energy into providing the ammunition for those fireworks.

Judicator, I doubt you care, but if it means anything, its opinions like that, which REALLY encourage the idea that pirating is nothing more than organized greifing.

and if I dare speculate, I might bet that those sort of opinions will be the downfall of this game.

I'll concede that this game is about "PvP" in a generic sense. but when most people say "PvP" I do not think they consider market competittion, or mining to qualify, but that they mean PvP Combat.

to put it simply, this is not Shadowbane, you are not consenting to any/all PvP combat just by logging in.

if one person willfully deprives another of their enjoyment of an activity that they are paying to play, and of their time, and effort, that is at very least morally borderline. it isn't "just a game". its a social game. interacting with other people. theres someone on the other side of the screen who you are taking from against their will.

screw this "this is a game, and morals don't apply" bullS*** that some people try to pull. in a very real sense, in some cases you are robbing another person of their time and enjoyment of a game that they pay to play just like you do. msybe they need to lighten up about it, but is that really any different than someone who just mugged someone telling the person, "oh, ligten up, its just money, and i didn't kill you, so you should be happy!"

I still don't understand why "dedicated" PVP people get more fun ganking targets that don't shoot back than fighting each other.

Unless said people really don't want targets that shoot back and are therefore the only real carebears in the game.

By George, I think I nailed it!

bosie your just soo nasty YARRRR!!

well seeing an 2 month old player in an apoc (hell it too me 4 month to get a tier1 BS) in 0.1 deserves a kill, even worse his only defense were 4 hammerhead drones (wtf, no match for my bb). Then he tried to log of, luckily this time the exploit didnt worked (ha stupid, only works after jump in cloak) and we managed to kill and pod the guy.

But he still betrayed us, we didnt got this shiny new kill mail thx to his logging Confused

such players just deserve a nice ganking in empire, and ill be glad to deliver much more of this fantastic pleasure to other ugh empire miners in big shiny ships without skills

goin into .4 and below systems is concenting to all forms of pvp there is no police to protect you anymore, if you dont like that idea then stay in yulai and mine veld all day. if you dont like the fact that someone can come and "take" time away from you in the form of losing a ship then go and play simcity or something if you want i can give you the cheat codes so nothing bad can happen to you. this is a GAME its based around pvp weather you like it or not, losing a ship is part of the game it adds excitement keeps you coming back for more, you talking about it being morally borderline for ppl pirating thats ridiculous its part of the game and tbh its alot of fun and attacking miners in low sec systems, they know the risks they should be able to deal w/it if they are attacked.

Mate you paid to play a game which allows other players the ability to destroy your ship under specific circumstances. Noone is robbing anyone of anything.

You are simply failing to understand the concept of a MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game.

If this situation is not enjoyable to you, the problem lies with you and you alone. The other person just follow the rules of the game. He did what was allowed for him to do.

You on the other hand want to ignore the aspect of the game that doesn't appeal to you and not only that but you also want IT to ignore you.

I don't pause to think if i just made the game miserable for someone else. To me he is just another online gamer: i.e. someone who accepted what this games IS and ALLOWS. If he was not responsible enough to accept this then that is hiw own problem.

What you are describing is like a soccer player of the team that is losing 2-0 going to the other player and lecturing him about how he ruined his fun etc etc.
