I am now flying a blasteranis - and its a little ****ing buzz saw. I love it. it's a bit fragile though. As an alternative sometimes if I'm not feeling like doing a make or break bet, is the Ishkur a good solo ship for PVP? does it tank well, and is it even worth it without tech 2 drones? Anybody have good fit outs for the Ishkur?

Just like a Taranis. Go in there and blast em up, MWD away from things you can't kill. Needs a %5 PG implant, if not you can downgrade the guns accordingly

Rails are better for AF vs AF imo then you can try to keep range on your opponent and have them at the 7-8 km range instead of close range and have your warrior II's do the damage.

Blasters are better for close orbitting against cruisers or larger targets but i dont know if the ishkur is fast enough to survive that under webs like the wolf and jaguar do.

imo hardener>>plate.

and why nos on rail setup your not that close anyways.

It's easy to tell if you know where to look. Your setup is:

HIGH:
Light Ion Blaster II x3
charge - Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
Small Nosferatu II

MEDIUM:
Warp Scrambler II
Micro Capacitor Booster I
charge - Cap Booster 100
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters

LOWs:
Small Armor Repairer II
Overdrive Injector System II
Damage Control II

cargo - Nanite Repair Paste
drones - Warrior II

I don't know if surviving against a larger ship anymore is so much about being fast enough to avoid being hit, but rather being too small for it to hit. I've had fair success with sig tanking. Being a tiny target (smaller than a med drone), plus the speed from an AB is easily enough to avoid large guns, and gives plenty of mitigation from medium guns. Rails also make escaping web/nos/etc much easier, so I've been toying with a rail fit that orbits at 11-12km and relies heavily on the drones for DPS, but I've unfortunately not been able to get much good testing with it yet.

It's fast enough with the AB, but from my experience it needs a bit more agility while doing so.

I have a enyo with a plate setup and it's just too bulky to be used well (because it can't fit a 400mm plate like matars) and the 200mm just doesn't cut it. I personally don't like orbiting at range with any frigate. Why? Basically if you are orbiting with a gallente you aren't doing enough DPS fast enough when it's a big ship. The target has plenty of time to call for help. Go in hard and hope he doesn't have a web and let those blaster do the speaking + drones. Then you have enough time to waste him/her before backup arrives (always does, unless he/she thinks he can handle you...)

I've seen speed tanked AF's survive a web from a BS, but I'm not really sure why it happened. Either the AF pilot was a speedfreak, or the BS had utterly crappy fit.

Thinking about everything...I would say that Taranis is more like a AF rather than a ceptor. It's just so mean! AF's tank better, but speed tanks also. I'd say it's a 50/50 situation when it comes to pvp (with good skills). You might want to try a AB fitted taranis someday. It's a rather interesting thing... like a superspeed tanked AF.
