Ok iv heard that if you have a tracking computer it has a change to increase DPS - this is by improving your abilty to wreck a shot on a target, is this true?

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Rumour has it that wrecking shots are a flat 1% chance but I've never seen an indepth study on such a thing.

If you are planning a PhD in Stat Data Analysis this may be just the job for you.

Tracking computers can increase your dps when your tracking is not perfect, which is almost always the case.

It'll just bring your real dps closer to your on-paper dps tho, and the actual benefit might be rather small if your tracking is already decent.

As has been said earlier in this thread, "Wrecking hits" account for 1% of shots provided that you have atleast a 1% chance to hit: nothing you can do to improve this.

When your chance to hit drops, it is your best non-wrecking hits that are the first to become misses. So a tracking computer will help increase the chance of getting those higher quality hits.

The result under standard conditions (where the size and speed of your target matches the attributes of your ungrouped turret) a tracking computer will give you a 17.7% increase in effective DPS.

The higher your chance to hit, the smaller the percentage increase in damage. The lower your chance to hit the larger the percentage increase in damage. However, keep in mind that a 250% increase on a base 4% damage only boosts you to 10%. Tracking computers provide their largest absolute damage increase when your base chance to hit is in the 30% - 50% range: ie when your target is moving slightly faster than the speed your turrets track.
