I am in the last bit of training for black ops. I know there are problems with them, but I am betting on that long term they will iron out the few bug.

The question I have is about the covert jump drive portal that it has. I gather that there is a restriction on ship types and numbers that can be brought through with it. Can anyone who has used it conferm if this is true and what the restrictions are.

Cheers

Recons/Cov Ops/SBs/Cloaky Transports/B Ops, everything that you imagine could be classified as Ninja Special Commando ships.

Numbers are dependant on how much fuel you have so the cloaky transports can certainly help you there.

There is shiptype restrictions.

Only ships with Jump Harmonics 2 may use the Black Ops Jump Portal (BOJP) which includes the following:
Stealth Bombers
Covert Ops
Force Recons (Not Combat)
Blockade Runners
Black Ops

The Numbers... well, Forget about jumping a Black Ops through it, it requires far too much fuel to jump thanks to its Mass (But it has its own Jump DRIVE to cyno to the Cov Ops Cyno without needing to use the BOJP).
Recons take a sizable amount of fuel, 5 at most depending on your skill level.

The frigate sized Cov-Ops ships on the other hand, you can port alot through, they take very little amounts of fuel units so depending on your cargo bay given up to fuel, alot...

I have yet to jump a Blockade Runner through, but since their mass is roughly the same as a Recons, about 5max again.

I forget the exact figures and how much fuel it took and my Jump Portal Generation skill is low aswell... so depending on your skills being higher may allow you to jump more.

Also, Range plays a factor into fuel consumption, the further the range (up to the Parent ships Jump drive range) to more fuel required.

You can skip training for the Covert Jump Portal. If you have multiple blackops then it can come in handy to have one of them trained to use one, but it's not that big a deal. Even if you're only using the blackops for portaling and using a cargo expander fit blackops, it still takes ~1300 isotopes, or ~200m3 of fuel, to portal 1 recon 4ly. Takes about the same for a blockade runner, or you can portal 5 or so stealth bombers.

Also just in case you weren't aware, you can also skip Cyno V, since you need another ship besides the blackops to light it.

One thing I'm unclear on - I know the BO can cyno from highsec to lowsec. Can it also open a bridge in that direction?

Don't see any reason why it couldn't. The Covert Jump Portal Module doesn't have any flags restricting it's use in empire space.

It can, and it does look awsome
