Do you have an issue with atheists?

only the obnoxious ones, and I'm agnostic myself. there's nothing more soul-erasingly monotonous than being subjected to some 6th form theology student failure-in-waiting droning on and on with their tired, self congratulary 'aren't theists dumb, me and my mates are the only ones who get it' pep talk

To be fair is the bible told them that god was a kettle orbiting the moon, they would believe it, it requires faith. and they would be the only ones that got it.

its same as a conspiracy theory, only they get it.

Edit: btw congratulary is spelled congratulatorySmile

I was actually having a pop at militant atheists but both sides of the argument are as bad as each other to be fair, it's a very tedious argument

Nope, I have personally met a historian, who is by the way a complete atheist, who has informed me that there was indeed a man named Jesus from Nazareth that existed. Sorry I can't give you anything other than that

Yes i know that, i will not deny that but what he did.. divine intervention etc.

its like saying there is a Pentagon (that is a fact) but then saying they then did 9/11 etc see what i am getting at?

Ah alright, I was getting the impression that you and Arianhood were flat out denying his existence

No, just injecting healthy scepticism needed when dealing with such important individuals from such a considerable amount of time. There is also the fact that while the Vatican now wouldn't use the Bible to control the masses, the declining Roman empire did have a damned good reason to 1800 years ago, hence my scepticism that their records are reliable on this.

If the commercialism of the holidays has got you down, do something a bit different. Like work a soup kitchen (homeless shelter). Seriously. It might actually turn into something you enjoy.

Besides, all the traffic is in a totally different part of town as people do the Blood In The Water shopping frenzy thing. It's actually pretty cool getting away from that nonsense to do something that actually has some meaning for someone.

Not as the Abrahamic religions describe Him - in my opinion God must be indistinguishable from the Universe itself.

I could write a book on this stuff, but I'll just say that my personal spirituality is a half-baked mashup of secular logic, Taoism, Buddhism and Negative Theology.

If I may pre-empt your next question - "If you don't believe in God, why bother with Christmas?"

Because it's fun.

That being said, next year I'm working soup kitchens and giving to people who need help.

Jesus wasn't even born on December 25th. Confused

Plus he's actually 2015 years old and not 2009. Blame a RC Pope (of all people) for that one.

I didn't read your post, but from the title:

I know in your emo-rage little world you would love for people to be eternally unhappy, but if Christmas makes most people happy (which it does...) then you should royally f**k off.

(Awaits the response of someone who, due to them spending much too long on the forum, thinks their thread and subsequent replies are correct, although billions of people celebrate and enjoy christmas)

PS. I welcome you having an opinion, but no need to share. Really no need.

This. Any logical conclusions will just lead you to being agnostic... it takes emotional response to conclude atheism or religion, and both are irritating on forums in their highly opinionated forms.

Christmas should be banned.

I think it's been established that you have no idea what makes people happy, unhappy or willing to be around you, although your narcissitic logic probably dictates that they become invalid when they don't aspire to whatever curmudgeonly intelligist, nerd**** eugenicist utopia you toss yourself off to in between the tears

Christmas doesn't (shouldn't, at least) need to exist.

People wait until Xmas time to show they care to their family by buying presents and being around them. They should show love and appreciation all the time, not just during "the holiday season."

It's the same as the following thought experiment:

You receive a letter in the mail from the doctor saying you have two weeks to live. What would you do in your time left?

The real question is, why aren't you doing that today?

I love christmas, but my love for it has little to do with the deity itself nor gifts(though gifts are nice).

Its the idea of love for one's neighbor if but for 1 day out of the year, its about giving rather then taking good food nice company and the tradition of it all.

Sure, not many people get into the"christmas spirit"anymore, but personally I love getting into that mood if it is purely for myself.

PS:I am an ass 364 days out of the year, I care little about people's feelings(though wellbeing may be a little different)but on christmas im happy to give my share to ensure that everybody im around has a very merry christmas.

EDIT:For the poster above, I am doing exactly what I would do in my last 2 weeks past saying my goodbyes and maybe screwing with some people along the way.... Believe it or not I am honestly content with my life.
