I have an office in a station . I store there varuious stuff, BPOS BPCs POS fuels etc... I have a POS in the same system etc...

Since i had read about the office renting fees i noticed that in case the office rental period expires i may lose the stuff. Since the office rental fee is taken from master wallet i had left several millions in there so in case the rental period expires the money could be taken by there, automaticly i thought... BUT NOOOO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AUTOMATICALLY.

What the hell! I mean is this so hard to be implemented? I almost lost all my corp assets. Why not make it so that if the office rental period expires and there is cash in the master corp wallet the fee to be substracted from there instead of losing the corp hangar and all your stuff.

And yes it looks like a rant and it looks like a rant because i am furious right now Evil or Very Mad

There could be an option to PREPAY the rental fee for several months ahead.
Also from what i have noticed there is no way to extend the rent in some way in your current office. Looks like when the rent is about to expire there is no option to pay ahead for the next month for the current office and you need to take all your stuff out of the corp hangar > then terminate the office > then rent new office and try to sort out everything from the beggining.

Is there an option to extend the rental period of CURRENT office some way or do i have to rent a new one each time?

Your office isn't unrented (and anything you might have left in it impounded) unless you let the bill go unpaid for a month. That should be plenty of time to say, "Hey, I forgot to pay the office rent!"

Or you can just pay it when you get the mail notification that it's due.

What does this have to do with anything? I didn't ask for direct debit. I had 100 millions in master wallet (where the cash is supposed to be taken for office rent each time) Office rent was about 2 millions , would it be so hard to be programised so in case office period expires to be taken from the master wallet automatically?

YEah i saw the impound stuff and managed to get them back. As i said I ALMOST LOST ALL MMY STUFF. I ALMOST means that i didn't lose them. But i was furious to see that i should have in mind this little thing as well. I thought that if you let isk in some wallet division (in our case is the master wallet) or maybe even they could create a specific wallet division to put money into that could be used just for that purpose.

Is all that i am saying so hard? Why noone of CCP ever thought about this?

You get a evemail from each NPC corporation you own a office at when rent is due.

You can see your payable bills and rentals in the Corporation tab.

You can pay those rentals even if they are not due.

You should actualy log in and play before you turn on your ranting face. Losing assets because of this is your own damn fault, and i cant see why CCP should change something that works perfectly fine for everyone apart from you.

But if the same would happen with your credit card fee i bet you wouldn't like it at all. We set our credit card to pay for the game and we choose the payment intervals be it each 3 months each 6 or 1 year. And when the time comes it happens automatically. Now imagine if one would have to manage this thing every month.

Why is so necessary when it has to do with our credit card dues and so hard when is about the office rent in game?

Darwinian selection. People unable to read an evemail reminder to pay their bill and follow up on it in a 30 day timespan don't deserve to have stuff. Wink

If it was an option, fine, but honestly it's no biggie. It's not like you can fuel the pos months in advance anyway, just make it a habit to fuel it for 30 days and pay the bill at the same day.

However - what's not nearly as enjoyable is the alliance bill. The mail sent isn't as visible(more people can pay it than those who recieve the mail) and if the bill isn't paid not only is a bil forfeit but the name is wasted and can't be used ever again. It's already happened to a number of players, myself included - granted it was fixed.

Dynamic pricing.

You cannot prepay office rent several months in advance because the price each month is dependent on how many people want to rent offices in that station each month. The price is unpredictable and therefore you can't pay it in advance.

And if they took the money out of the Master Wallet automatically then instead of threads like this one there would be a hideous number of threads here complaining that their corp had run out of money because their office rents had jumped hugely and they hadn't had the chance to cancel them.

You don't have to unrent and re-rent an office each month. Just open your corp's master wallet and go to the section that has your bills listed and right click on it and pay it.

I'm not near the game at the moment so I'm not sure of the exact tab names and such. Just poke around in the master wallet a bit and it's pretty easy to figure out.

I tried to think of something nice to say that was maybe constructive and caring and didn't make me sound like a jaded 2003 player that basically hates all the whining lazy assed 2 brain cell idiots that infest eve these days. Sadly I couldn't.

You sir are a ****** ****** [ <----- self censored Surprised ].

If you are too lazy to realise that you need to pay a bill for an office in the game and yet somehow managed to get far enough along to start running a POS then you really do deserve to lose all your assets. Regrettably CCP disagrees with me here and all your gear is merely impounded till you learn how to recover it.

I'd much rather people had just let you think it was lost until you wondered for yourself what the impounded items tab was or perhaps searched the forums instead of *****ing uselessly on here but hey seems Santa thinks I've been bad again this year and no presents for me.

Oh and it's not that hard. CCP have probably thought about it. They just didn't think they had to dumb the game down quite THAT far. Clearly they hadn't accounted for quite how stupid and lazy some people are getting.

Not a whine really, he does have a point.

In the past, all stuff is impounded indefinitely. Although this obviously led to DB issues, there is still no reason to presume someone has quit. Internet problems like the cable break recently may lead to people not having internet for a while. Problems with an ISP can take up to 2 months or more to resolve, even if it's 1 month to cancel the account and another to get the new ISP online. Other reasons may mean that the player cannot get online to sort it out within the time allowed. Just remember the problems with Tiscali users recently and other RL issues may prevent someone playing for a couple of months or more.

Before you say it, internet cafe's are not an option. Would you log in on a potentially unsecure PC that's probably riddled with keyloggerss and every other kind of account stealing software?

I think if they are going to do this, thre should be several ways to get around this without the player losing everything.

1. The stuff could be dumped in a holding DB which isn't accessed unless the person pays the impound fee. It isn't hard to implement and wouldn't put any pressure on the server at all since it's not a DB that is going to be accessed regularly like the market etc.

2. Take the payment automatically from the corp master account as the OP suggested.

3. Dump the stuff in the CEO's hangar and charge the corp a substantial transfer cost or charge it to the CEO (even if this means a negative balance) if the corp has not got the funds.

This way, the stuff can be retrieved if the player comes back or it can be deleted when the character is deleted after a certain time period which I think is six months now. Just remember that the internet is volatile and not everyone enjoys the luxury of a stable connection at all times.

when you rent an office it takes the fee then immediately bills you for the next month so you are payed up for a month in advance its not ccp's fault that your so disorganised you cant pay a simple bill and it is a game that they would like you to log in and play rather than everything be run on automated scripts then there wouldnt be much point playing would there. If you want to play a game as a bot try silkroad online you dont even have to log in the bots do it for you :P

This man win's the thread.

You didn't ALMOST lose your stuff, you THOUGHT you lost your stuff. Big diff. Your stuff would've been there indefinitely, nothing would've happened to it, no matter what. So there's no ALMOST. It's like hallucinating you got hit by a truck. You didn't almost get hit by a truck, you thought you got hit by a truck until you realized you took too much acid.

What happened was you THOUGHT you had lost your stuff, and instead of simply acknowledging that it was your own mistake for assuming that a game mechanic existed even though THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE that says it does exist, you decided to get angry at CCP for not designing the game to be idiot proof. God forbid you simply take responsibility for your own mistake.

The line that prepays the dues for next month is a simple line of text. One can't know that by right clicking it another ooption will appear that is the pay dues button. There should be at least a visible button next to the line instead of having a line of text that the player must figure he has to right click it for more options.

And of course there is the issue of someone having to be away from computer for some time for real life problems...

The game mechanic that may mislead you is actually that in order to rent an office for your corp the cash needs to be subtracted from corp's master wallet. That can make one think that the sum will be taken automatically when time comes unless the ceo cancels the office rent himself. I had read a guide on the internet about POS managment that was suggesting to always have some cash into the master wallet for that purpose and it was because of that suggestion that made me believe that the sum would be taken automatically by there.

And yeah i managed to set a POS fuel it and do some BPO research but i didn't figure how to pay the rent because the option was hidden somewhere into the game's chaotic interface. After this i will start right clicking every text line in the game. Who knows what new thing i may discover and then perhaps if i get lucky and i do discover something extra i will have the luxury to come at the forums and play it a genious calling the less lucky people idiots. Laughing

Or perhaps i may not... Rolling Eyes

if it paid from corp wallet automatically some inactive corp could keep an office tied up for months or years.
