15 December 110AY : This morning, Valda Valadas stepped down from her position as Chief Executive Officer of Strix Armaments and Defence and handed over to the new CEO, Mjalnar Gessanier, better known within the capsuleer community as Zagamesh.

Valda took on responsibility for running Strix several months ago, and is credited with holding the corp together through a difficult transition following the resignation of Gervais Zhang. All in Strix are grateful to her for her hard work and dedication. She continues to serve Strix as one of its Directors.

Zagamesh

Zagamesh was one of the founding members of the corp, and returned to active operations within the corp a few months ago after a lengthy deployment with the Federation Marines. As CEO of Strix, his military experience will be invaluable, given Strix's current focus on combat operations in the war with the Caldari State, and in defence of the Gallente Federation.

The Directors and officers in Strix extend their congratulations to Zagamesh on his new appointment, and offer him their full support.

Good to see that the "Black Eagles" have plenty of influence with the Strix board of directors. Or maybe this is an indication of the overall direction of the Federation.

As the new Chief Executive Officer of Strix Armaments and Defence I am under no obligation to divulge either the nature of our private security or armaments contracts nor the identity of our contractors.

I will however state for the record that Strix Armaments and Defence categorically and unequivocally denies any claims made of any involvement - either covertly or overtly - with the Federal Intelligence Office and/or the Special Department of Internal Investigations and Federal Security other than what would be expected of any corporation operating in Federation space and under Federal laws.

Ah, Ms.Jenneth, you will have to forgive my ignorance on this subject, but why will this prove so entertaining? Aside from a CEO who feels the need to, as part of their first speach, issue a blanket denial quite like that for his first release...

Ah, the unfortunate part of being out of the loop for a while.

Well, Ms. Nausea, while most Gallente pilots are reluctant to blast the Caldari as a people for doings they'd rather attribute to our leadership (it seems to be something of an article of faith to the Gallente that people aren't really as different as they often seem), Zagamesh's attitudes are less, shall we say, forgiving. He's one of the relative few on the Gallente side for whom the war is very clearly against the Caldari, rather than asserting that it's just against the State.

He's historically been pretty vocal about it. Maybe command will mellow him out, or maybe he'll end up being a sort of petty Gallentean counterpart to Heth-haan. The latter is what would be fun to watch: drama at its least subtle but most grand, the crusader corrupted.

I imagine I'd find him less funny if I considered him a significant threat, but frankly his ascent makes it look like the war isn't going so well for the Gallente. People tend to promote extremists when they're getting desperate.

I know this probably isn't anything more than a foreshadowing of such a dynamic, if it's even that. The war's far from over, and if the Gallente are getting desperate I can't say there are many signs other than this one. Still, enthroning Zagamesh as CEO bespeaks a willingness to follow a many-times-demonstrated bigot. While I could read that as indicating many bad things about the corporation in question, really I can say only one thing for sure:

Their future looks colorful.

Ah... that kind of entertaining. Well, I suppose someone has to be the person the other side points to to say, 'atleast i'm not as bad as HIM'.

I wonder how many truely believe their hate, and how many just use it as an excuse to justify their enjoying killing people...

Could you define the State please? And not the simple answer of the State is the corporations because then we are in conflict with ourselves. And Quafe is a member of the State and a Federation corporation. So are you fighting Quafe as well?

The water is very, very muddy.

The State is a political entity, not a collection of corporations. If it wasn't before (which it was), with Het's arrival it most certainly is now. Quafe has liscenced corporation status in the State - that doesn't mean it's a "member" - I'd like to see factual evidence of Quafe having influenced any major decision in Caldari politics. That's the realm of the eight megacorporations - or, at least, it was before Heth came along. The State has the CEP, its own Navy and collectively governed territory. The State is far more than its constituent corporations, and to even remotely suggest otherwise is monumentally duplicitous. The State, as a political entity, has declared war on the Federation and is mounting an invasion of its space. We're fighting to repel that invasion.

I believe this war is largely pointless, hence my withdrawal from the Federation militia. However, our territory still needs to be defended by someone, and if that someone is Strix, so be it - I wish them luck in the defence of Gallente space. Given what has been said, however, and Zagamesh's history, I feel bound to remind him that if he's going to fight, the fight should be against the political entities that are threatening the Federation, not the ethnic groups that make up those political entity.

I'm standing up for your people, Nederland, even if I'm not standing up for your government. I'm not exactly asking for praise, but not dissecting every word I say would be quite nice. You know I don't approve of the excesses of the Federation, and that I even support things like Caldari control of Caldari Prime - why should I have to remind people of this every time I say something even remotely misinterpretable?

What I don't "get", to be honest, is what MXD is doing in Heretic Nation.

Hey, I know you don't like the Amarr, sometimes to the point of it clouding your judgment (coughlaserscoughwinknudge), but it wasn't that long ago that I remember you saying you could no longer call Mirrorgod "friend" for attacking the TLF.

Time heals all wounds, I suppose, sometimes at rates exceeding expectations.

Addendum: at the rate the Federation is capturing systems, I'd say it won't be too long before they can orchestrate a bombardment of New Caldari Prime.

(Not that I'm saying they will, of course, just a figure of speech.)

To be honest, I'd say it's specifically none of your business, and that you should keep your disproportionately-proportioned nose out. Of course, as much as it would bring a smile to my face and a song to my heart to say that to you, we all know that the speculation that would occur if I said that would never, ever end. So, allow me to put it in fairly simple terms: Yendaj was screwing everything up - she was behind a lot of terrible decisions, particularly back-room colusion with Revan Neferis and her cronies, leaving the Minmatar Militia, declaring war on the Minmatar Militia, and a large number of other (invariably, bad) things. Now that she's no longer in a position of leadership, I've been able to re-establish diplomatic channels with the Heretics. Good ones, as my presence in their alliance might suggest. There were also a couple of immediete-timescale tactical advantages to joining Heretic Nation - and no, I'm not going to disclose them.

This is most likely a temporary move anyway. Heretics and MXD have our own agendas, which we will pursue seperately if neccessary, but it is likely that with Yendaj's era past, they will coincide much more often.

It appears you've been taking my digs at you a little too personally. Either that, or you just hate me, which I can understand: I'm not the easiest person to get along with.

But, hey, it says "Heretic Nation" right under your corporation name. Can't blame me for being a bit curious, can you?

You have a low tolerance for "song in the heart". Still, good to see that you are merciful enough not to leave me writhing in the throes of a nosiness attack.

Shocked Yendaj was causing problems? Really?!?

Uh, I mean, how terrible. And sad. And, unfortunately, it did not all turn out good in the end.

Hopefully things will get straightened out, however, and we can go back to the good days of Mirrorgod and the Amarrians ranting at each other.

Good for you! And I mean that. Well, unless you and yours do something against my interests. But please consider asking Mirrorgod to help out the Matari a bit more, if you would. I'm hoping that that debacle can all be worked out.

On behalf of the SoE Roughriders, and in my capacity as a former CEO of Strix, I'd like to congratulate Zagamesh on his appointment. I sincerely hope that Strix's long, proud tradition of serving the Federation and opposing oppression and slavery will continue during his tenure, as will the clear distinction that Strix has always made in the past between the evils of the State regime and the innocence of the vast majority of Caldari citizens.

While it is of course Strix's business alone who they elect as CEO, I'd have to say that Zagamesh's documented hostility towards the Caldari people makes his promotion something of a slap in the face to those of us working for the cause of peace.

I won't wish him luck, but I will encourage him to prove me wrong.

Because regardless of your own interpretation of the what the "State" is others will define it some other way. When you say "we are fighting the State", the implications of that statement vary from person to person, corporation to corporation, faction to faction.

Another person may define the State as the corporations and not see any difference between Lai Dai and SuVee for example; considering their common foreign concerns/policy to apply to domestic concerns as well. This individual or group will place on the other 7 megas the failing of 1.

Yet another may define the State as the people that make up the State, especially since the rise of Tibus Heth and blame them all for his actions.

It must be asked time and again when someone is trying to make a distinction between two bodies of a similar makeup how they define those bodies.

The State is an idea that has borders and territory, yet exist beyond those borders in a very real way. It is the outward representation of a cooperative mutually beneficial pact of corporations, each with their own and different goals, cultures, and policies.

The State is the organizations that administer and execute the common cause of the corporations that are its members. These include the Chief Executive Panel, the Caldari Business Tribunal, the House of Records, the Caldari Navy, the State Protectorate, the State War Academy (possibly, may be a joint project between all the big 8 security firms), and to some degree Mordu's Legion.

The State is the Caldari and Achura people (some others to be sure); it was through their actions or the threat there of that Tibus Heth rose to power, such power that for the first time in more than a century there is what might be called an executive branch of the Caldari State government.

And Quafe. Got it.

Yes, Quafe is registered as a member of the pact of corporations that is the State.

This was evidenced during the takeover of a State park by NOH from Hyasyoda. A Gallente environmental group (based in the Federation) lobbied Quafe to take action against the transfer in the Caldari Business Tribunal. For Quafe to bring suit via the CBT against another corporation and not be party to the contract in dispute, it has to have at least registered itself as a corporation under State law with the Chief Executive Panel, the Caldari Business Tribunal, and the House of Records. Therefore Quafe is a State corporation, I did not say Quafe is a Caldari corporation.

Technically speaking Ishukone, Wiyrkomi, CBD, Hyasyoda, and the CBT are all also Federation corporations or organizations operating under Federation law within Federation space. Now whether the laws of the Federation extend beyond its boundaries and into these corporations' or organizations' other holdings is a matter for debate and is the reason I find the recent occupation of Hykanima by the Federation to be worrisome.
