In the past 2 weeks we have had 6 corps war dec us, then immediately retract it. The effect this seems to have is that the fighting can take place immediately (according to the Wars tab of the corporation window) for the 24h period it usually takes to retract/or take effect, negating the 24h wait.

Although the wars window says YES under "Can Fight" I have not yet heard report of people being ganked by any of the corps who did that. Yet, if six corps did it, there must be a reason.

Is this a known bug or exploit? Wouldn't surprise me if it were an exploit, so many losers today. Seems to be anything that bypasses the 24h wait period after the war is declared is an exploit.

I petitioned it and got a "thank you, we will investigate and take proper actions" but it keeps happening of course. What I worry about is a corp seeing a Jump Freighter in Empire, war deccing then immediatly retracting to allow fighting, and gank it.

If this is not known, well expect a lot of Empire ganking until they fix it now that I told everyone... Laughing

If someone found a way to negate the 24 hour waiting period it would seem to me to be an exploit.

Does anyone know if you can make a war mutual during this period and cancel the wait? I could understand that in that case it wouldn't be an exploit at all.

See mails...

interimo has declared war on Wildly Inappropriate..
Fighting can legally occur between those involved.

The war between interimo and Wildly Inappropriate. is coming to an end. interimo has retracted the war against Wildly Inappropriate.. The war will be declared as being over after approximately 24 hours.

Unlike regular war decs I am used to see, where it says
Quote:
After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved.

the aforementioned war declaration does not mention any 24h timer, but you can see by the timestamp it was literally declared than retracted at the same time (I guess separated by seconds).

Exploit it seems to be...

Ahh... so immediately retracting a war alters the war mechanic from the "prelim" stage to the "ending" stage. Yeah I'd say exploit.

Privateer Alliance has a war on you.

When a corporation leaves an Alliance, it (the game) starts a new war between the corp leaving and the previous valid targets. Then it automatically cancels the war so that there's a 24hr cooldown period.

This prevents corps from being able to drop an Alliance to immediately get out of a war.

No shennanigans afoot just game mechanics.

I see... but why does it allow immediate fighting?

We've had 6 corps do it to us in 2 weeks... must be something here!

It doesn't allow immediate fighting.

You were already at war with privateers, when a corp leaves them, it automatically issues a new mail.

They could already shoot you, no exploit.

Must be your first war dec from Priv, as you will get these mails all the time as corps join and leave.

If I was dec'ed by Privateer before I never paid attention.

Thanks for clearing it up. I guess I was never decced by an alliance that loses 6 corps in 2 weeks.

It's the way Privateers operate, they take in corps all the time, no obligation, just fun pew pew for a week or two.

If you attacked a 0.0 alliance and got those mails, its a good indication you are kicking their butts :P

Its like rats leaving sinking ship mails, I seen it a few times Wink

Yeah, sorry to burst your bubble, but Privateers has an open door policy to past, current and future potential or returning corps.

And just so ya know, we see that same thing from our war targets all. the. time.

We recently left Privateer alliance that had you decced. Because we left the alliance it counts as us retracting the war, therefore we are at war for the usual 24 hour period when a war is retracted.

to elaborate, there is actually a 48 hour period to declare war, 49 hours more frequently.

before declaring war when the concord mail is sent, you have to pass a corporate vote, which takes 24 hours plus up to an hour before the interface updates and you can dec.

so no, nobody's going to be insta-warring you.
