If you fly logistics and you stay alive, killboards are absolutely oblivious to you having taken part in a fight. That is wrong.

Logistics ships simply don't appear on killmails because they dont do damage to hostile ships. Instead they repair, or boost in other ways, their own fleet members so that they can survive or be more effective. This conflicts with the nature of the killmail system, which shows only the ships that took part in a kill in and gives them credit on the kill according to how much damage was inflicted to the target.

This conflict makes it really hard to contemplate friendly effects in the current killmail system, but i see two ways in which this could be done in theory, without having to redesign it. Each of these ways has its strengths and weaknesess:

1.) Whenever a friendly effect is activated on a ship (A), the ship that produced the friendly effect(B) is listed in all the killmails in which (A) is listed for that battle.

2.) Whenever a friendly effect is activated on a ship (A), the ship that produced the friendly effect(B) is listed on the killmail of (A) if/when (A) is destroyed.

None of them is perfect, and all of them are subject to killmail who*ring if the logistics pilot simply boosts in turn all the ships, even if they dont need it, just to appear on the killmails, but you could abuse the current killmail system by not following target calling and simply assigning one of your guns to a different target...

The current situation in which logistics pilots are completely ignored by killmails is unacceptable because denies them the recognition of having fought. It is not just about killmail who*ring but also about combat performance which, like it or not, is mainly killboard driven. Also, the participation of corporations and alliances in a campaign is more often than not assessed on the basis of killboard reports.

If you still think that there is no basis for requesting this feature, think about dictor pilots who for a long time didnt appear on killmails because their bubbles, despite being the key of most fights, wouldnt be considered as a means of taking part in the fight. Fortunately that was identified as a problem and solved. I am only requesting that the part logistics pilot play in a fight is acknowledged.

If you think the ways I suggested are wrong, please elaborate your criticism so that a better system can be devised and implemented.

Good ideas.

Until it's done though, why not put on a sensor damp or ECM? just one will do it, and it'll get you on the killmail.

Of course, i've never flown logistics so I don't really know if mid slots are too important for that.

Just a thought.

Aside from the fact that we shouldn't have to fit these to get recognition, logistics pilots try to maintain a low profile, considering we are usually going to be called primary as soon as we are spotted.

A mid could be spared on a Basilisk, if the pilot is really that desperate for KM's, but a Guardian only has 2 mids, and I doubt many people would sacrifice one just to get cheap points on a KB.

Have you considered all of the ways this could be used? While I can not argue that logistics can turn the outcome of a tough fight, I can say that they they do not change the outcome of every fight.

I am not sure if you could actually pull this off, but if you had 8 shield reps on a destroyer, you could in theory be milking kill mails off 8 different ships. Maybe explore the way people would exploit it.
