So i reactivated my amarr alt and decided i wanted to use him to help my golem at missions. I'm not sure which ship to use though? A geddon with shield maint bots? An abbadon with megabeams? An arbitrator? :P

It should be mostly hands off as my golem can handle most of the missions alone quite fine. Any suggestions?

I'd say paladin, but that may be to many SP for an alt. Otherwise, what gives your golem most difficulty? Small ships? (Zealot) Big ships? (armageddon or apoc)

Golem will shred every bigger ship as bc or bs to pieces in no time. With decent salvaging skills (salvaging 4, better 5), even your single salvager will do the job just fine if you concentrate on bc and bs wrecks.

As a torp golem pilot myself, if I could choose from a amarr mate, I would probably ask him to join in Zealot with pulse setup and afterburner.
Can fit a decent tank by himself, got excellent tracking on pulses to shred all the smaller ships like cruisers, dessys and frigs. Also adds a good chunk of damage with the bigger targets if needed.

Small stuff actually, so a zealot or an absolution would be better?

Amarr ship? At the golem cost you could get a nightmare, which is much more awesome that any amarr ship that's currently available.

Oh sorry, did you mean to assist the golem? Anything that pops frigs well would help, zealot/coercer/whatever.

Zealot with scorches you can kill frigs at 40km range, pop 2 frigs per volley.

Sadly the nightmare would require several months of training from my alt so it's out.

The other day my agent gave me a L1 or L2 by mistake and I said what the hell and took it,got there with my golem and was confronted with 40 frigate sized drones,oh dear I sighedRolling Eyes
let loose my T2 light drones and started browsing the net,and in no time my drones shredded the 40 frigates to bitsRazz
and I make decent time on L4s too
Basically what I'm trying to say is you don't really need a 2nd char to help you, train it for something elseWink

Im not a big expert on amarr ships but i run missions in a golem and i find having drones help (is why i run with a domi alt), so id say go for BS and with the increased drone bay over cruiser size ships, throw in 5hammerhead II's and ur laughen, also u can pack it with tracking computers to hit frigs easier. :D

Hammerheads aren't so great anymore. If you're using a Domi I'd say Ogres are actually better even against frigs, despite the increased travel time. As long as you have an omni or two, of course. Domi can field Sentries as well though, which are great for a fire-support ship.

So in OP's case, for mostly hands off Amarr ship, then yeah, an Arby with Meds/Lights and an Omni or two, maybe a nav comp too. Can even fit medium cap/tank assists, or a single large iirc, if you want room for more painters on the Golem. Can fit painter on the Arby too, of course, but it isn't bonused then, and coordination is much more difficult.

Obviously you need perfect aggro control, to keep the little cruiser alive.

Guardian - there is no level 4 mission that can break the tank provided by a logistic ship, fit your golem for as much damage as you feel comfortable with (Painters, webs, and as many BCU as you can) - warp in, gain aggro, warp in guardian lock the golem and set reppers of him, set alt for fast (AB) orbit. Use golem to kill everything.

Using an amarr ship to kill angels or guristas is anything but 'fast'.

An arbitrator is nice and cheap and easy to skill an alt for. Stick on drone modules and you can pretty much set the drones to guard your main and forget about them, they'll kill anything aggroing you.

pulse apoc with scorch. 100km optimal, 600 dps, tracks everything.
