Been having the same problem here, getting disconnected at random intervals for no apparent reason. |

I have been plagued by this problem since QR and since the last Apoc patch the game was simply unplayable for me as I could barely stay connected to just change skills.
Anyway in the last 5 days or so the problem seems to have gone away by itself as I have not done anything from my side. Fingers crossed CCP may be working on this on the backround and have actually changed/fixed something.
The alternative, ie random occurence of this, is more alarming if anything. |

I'm getting this problem now as well. Strange thing about it is, that nothing has changed on my computer, and no patch came out.

Ive been having the same issue since last Tuesday. Ive done everything I can think of on my end, to include, new modem, new cords, a different internet connection all together, driver reinstall, operating system reinstall. Nothing works, I keep getting socket closed all the time. Sometimes I cant even get into to game without it closing. |

Yes, yes, you, me and the bulk of petitions about this issue seem to have originated around November 2008 (Quantum Rise expansion). I know i have done nothing hard- or soft-wise in my PC to cause it, and I have been using the same ISP and internet configuration (fully wired) since 2004. Of course i know many other players have been having this kind of problems even before QR, or only since recently. Originally by: Major Deviant Anyway in the last 5 days or so the problem seems to have gone away by itself as I have not done anything from my side. Again, same thing here. For approx. the last two weeks i have been able to run even 2 simultaneous accounts, with no disconnects. I have done nothing on my PC, my ISP has done nothing on their end... has to be CCP (!?) Originally by: Major Deviant The alternative, ie random occurence of this, is more alarming if anything.
Absolutely agreed.. even when atm seems to be running fine, in light of the new people that are reporting this, and the old players that still experience it, i don't trust my eve connection enough to run capital ship ops.. or any kind of pvp for that matter... |

Have been playing EVE without any changes to my environment for over two weeks. Yesterday the "Socket Closed" CTD. The frequency seems to have increased. Now I can't even warp to a gate without a crash (yesterday I could get a couple of jumps).
Disconnect seems to be on communication with the server -- sometimes market access, sometimes login, sometimes undock, often during a session change. All other network apps are working fine.
The game is not playable. |

Started happening tonight for the first time, up to about 15 times and am ready to rage quit. Varies between 2 - 30 minutes before it all falls over (socket closed).
I'd hate to be out pvp as it would be a huge isk-sink. Just lucky i'm only losing t2 med drones on lvl 4's :( |

Edited by: Mornesh on 24/06/2009 00:15:23 Listen to this, after I loose conection like everyone else on the forum I try to connect to the internet and it says I have no signal from the router. After waiting a few minutes it connects to the network, but no internet still. After a few more minutes I get connection back. All this happens while my roommates experience uninterupted internet from the same router. Serious compatibility probems Eve. |

Seeing as there are about 34 pages to this thread, I haven't bothered to go through them all to see if CCP have replied. Soo instead I'll ask you guys!
"Socket Closed" - These two words are ruining the game for me. Yesterday I dock, leave my room, get a drink from the kitchen, and returned to the log in screen. Less then 30seconds, and I already can't be bothered to log back in.
So people, have we had a CCP reply of any description? |

Netgear, D-Link and Belkin. The socket closed issue happens for me on all three so the router ain't the cause. Besides, I'm running through the wire, not the wireless which this issue is refering to. |

2 months now i cant enjoy the game too. sometimes when i try to log in the game i crash like 3 or 4 times b4 i first see my docked ship. then i crash when i change ships. then i crash when i undock/dock. then i crash when i jump etc... crashed 15 times yesterday on a single roam... so i guess ccp doesnt care about us having those problems. maybe we are too few compared to the number of users not having this prob found sthg at issues/workarounds ccp wrote that it "might" fix the prob by changing port 26000 to 3724.... lol guess what... i crashed again |

I petitioned it in order to keep the flag flying.
They sent me a program to run that needed 1500 cycles per instructions. I started running it... everything looks good... ok there's a hickup at a london server... no biggie though, everything still looking good. wait some more... wait... oh, interesting, that was 1 cycle... rinse, repeat, 2 cycles, rinse repeat, 3,4,5... wow... this is taking a long time.
WTF? You want 1500 cycles? You expect me to take my computer offline for that kind of time? As far as I can tell from some quick numbers thats more than a day of constant processing... I'm not supposed to be using the net while this is running... Are you insane? Do you honestly feel that appropriate customer support of this issue is going to be making them run a diagnostic program that is going to take this insane amount of time? I have no idea what you're smoking but you need to share it.
here's a hint... customer support of this issue does not constitute making people not able to use the internet for that kind of length of time.... are you hoping I'm going out of town or something? |
