Hi, first off loving the game and nearly past my first month however,
my characters stats are very extreme, my intelligience is in the 20's and my charisma is like 3
because i heard charsmi is used for only a few skills
my characters attributes:
intelligence: 22
perception: 12
Charsmi: 3
Willpower: 10
Memory: 11

should i be worried?

*edit suppose i should mention im a miner character, but will want to do some sort of combat, i hear perception is the main attribute for learning ships is 12 to low?

thanks

if you ever want to run missions you should be very worried. Social skills are based on cha and help you get better rewards and more agents.

At first glance, these seem unbalanced, but it's hard to tell.

We need to see your BASE attributes. The learning skills add attribute points, so could you please post what you skills would be if you had no learning skills.

Analytical Mind / Level 4 /
Instant Recall / Level 3 /
Iron Will / Level 3 /
Learning / Level 3 /
Logic / Level 2 /
Spatial Awareness / Level 4 /

Surely with my intelligience being so high i should fly thro intel based skills?

Social skills are nice to have while mission running but not essential surely

Which means your base stats are:

Charisma: 3
Intelligence: 15
Perception: 8
Memory: 7
Willpower: 6

That's not horrific, but it would definitely be better to redistribute a few of this intelligence points elsewhere (even if you do want to focus on intelligence, there's diminishing returns on each additional point you add).

The general advice is to make sure that all skills apart from Charisma are 7 or higher, which you only miss out on with Willpower. Given that you've already trained the learning skills (including one advanced learning skill) it's probably worth sticking with this character - you will be able to blitz through the mining and support skills at least!

And as you seem to have already grasped, the attributes only affect training times, nothing else. So you might find it takes you 30 days to train cruiser V instead of 25 for someone else (while taking 12 days for Energy Management V instead of their 15); if you're patient it doesn't really matter at all, especially as what you lose in one area you gain in another. Being primarily a miner you should be OK.

Well, the thing is that there are no Intelligence based skills, in that all skills have two attributes (albeit one being primary). Most skills that use Intelligence also use Memory, which is a little bit low at 7 (though not horrific). Admittedly you will get through Int/Mem skills faster than the cookie-cutter Achura with all 9s.

Yeah, I disagree with the above poster in that after learning skills and implants there's not a massive amount of difference between 3 base charisma and something like 6, for example. And the mission-type social skills are hardly essential to your success, you might just be missing out on an extra 5% pay by training the skill to level 4 instead of 5, for example.

I was so hoping i wasnt completely screwed as i didnt fancy restarting all over. I dont mind waiting an extra week for top end skills.

You'kk be fine, if a lottle pokey at soem skill trainings.

FYI, the formula for calculating how many points you get per minute on a given skill is:

Primary Attribute + (Secondary Attribute/2), calculated per minute when you START training the skill.

Also, as a general rule, Intelligence/memory are the pairings for industrial and support skills, Perception/Willpower for the ship piloting/combat ones. if you're interested in speeding up training on those, I'd get your learning skills up for Perception/Willpower, and maybe look into some implants, skills and ISK permitting.

The maximum you can increase any oen stat is by about +17, so you may want to base what you do on that.
