Is it the shuttle? If it is something else then what fittings (if any) would I need.

Fastest probably would be a rigged (polycarb) interceptor with istabs or nanofibers.
I personally do all my travelling in a Firetail (faction frigate).

A shuttle definitely is the best bang for your buck though. It's fast enough usually, especially if you're afk anyway.

(Note all this changes when you start thinking about transporting high value, low volume goods while afk.)

Why a Firetail and not some other Frigate?

Easy Target
Minmatar
Brutor Tribe.

I would hazard a guess at pose factor. :)

Slasher is fast, executioner is prob faster though as it has more lows for nanos / istabs / overdrives

Get eve fit and play around with the T1 frig hulls

Have a look at its spec's. If you happen to have one, you might as well use it.

Personally, for AFK travel, I use an Interceptor or its T1 Hull, fitted with Overdrives and an AB/MWD for an extra little boost incase I am looking at the screen at the right time.

carebear pro-tip:

1.un-lock modules
2.move AB/MWD to F1 position
3.jam penny into F1 button....
4.engage autopilot
5.sit on sofa with mrs and suffer "death by x-factor"

Cool
But the Firetail does have slightly better stats than a normal frigate (though not as good as an interceptor). As has been said, if you have a faction frigate you might as well use it Smile

How do you un-lock a module and move it to F1 position?

They are unlocked by default.

To lock/unlock modules look for the option by clicking on the little white triangle between the HP/Speed read-out and your modules.

To move a module to a new keyboard short cut simply drag it to the position you want it in: ie drag your AB/MWD to where your first hi slot normally is. This will swap the keyboard shortcuts for those modules.

Repackaging a ship or resetting your clients settings will restore module shortcuts to their default.

I most often use this feature to move my AB/MWD to F1 or move my Shield Booster/Armour Repairer to F8.

Edit - BTW this is all done while undocked. It does not change the slot layout, just what shortcuts are assigned to which slots, and it is a per ship setting.
