hi - so, i have been playing for the last couple of years regularly with 1 RL pal and neither of us get much time ingame (usually just an hour or two a day) and mostly we run missions, manufacture, and carebear in general but recently we've been craving more PVP than just getting jumped as we go through low-sec.

ideally we just want to PvP in a small gang (ie, together) and we're not really sure how to start, or if it's even possible. we joined FW when it started but that seemed to be nothing more than x up to jump around in a semi-blob for a few hours running from anything bigger than we were, and it didn't seem to really fit the bill.

we're based out of a system that has entrances to .4 and below and it's my feeling that we just head out in a our own (tiny) roaming gang and see what happens, but i wanted to get the input from more experienced players.

should we -

1. join up with FW again?
2. just go out patrolling in .4 and see what we find?
3. other

please bear in mind we're in a 2-man corp and due to our limited play-times, we're probably not going to join other corps (I've tried that before and it seemed much like FW - PvP wasn't possible on our time-frame, only on that of others)

thanks in advance

One pretty easy way to start getting more PvP, join up with a hisec PvP corp. Could be a pirate corp for that matter. ;)

The corp I belong to is involved in wars constantly, or nearly so, and when not, there is always can flipping to fill in the gaps.

Check This Out

edit: I seldom get to play more than an hour or hour and a half at a stretch. For this type of warfare, that works reasonably well.

Start out in cheap ships. A pair of Rifters is a good start.

Check belts, Set up some SS's and a few perches. Learn how to scan. Pick your targets. Be patient.

Oh yea just relax and have a good time.

My advice, join FW even if you don't intend to take part in the big, blobby fleet fights. Why? It gives you the opportunity to roam in small ships, T1 frigs or ceptors, and widens your choice of targets on gates or station. Fly these frigs til you get comfortable scanning and with the basics of PvP. You'll lose some. In fact, you'll probably lose a tonne of them.

Once you're comfortable in frigs, slap a 1600 plate on a T1 cruiser and go out again. Keep working your way up til you can roam in whatever you want.

Also take a look into Agony Unleashed's PvP courses (IB4Agonypoasters) as they're usually pretty good at getting your what you need to know. Have fun YARRRR!!

Thanks for the plug!

Yes, check out our PvP Basic Course.....it's designed to give you a start on exactly what you're after....small ship gang PvP. We'll teach you how to engage, when to engage, when to run, how to fit your ship, the mechanics of moving in a gang and plenty more to boot. The course starts in high-sec and progresses to low-sec. The final (optional, but strongly encouraged) part is in 0.0 with one of our experienced FCs conducting a combat tour of a 0.0 region (or two, or three, or more, depending on target availability).

The course is long, but it's on a weekend, the instruction parts are about 4 hours and the 0.0 part is usually another 4 hours+ (depending on how much fun we're having and how many ships we have left).
