Simple question:

Sentry Drones, are they mobile or not, and more importantly, after each battle do you have to fly over to them and pick them up, or can you recall them like other drones

Thanks in advance Very Happy

They are not mobile. You have to get within scoop range of them to get them back in your drone bay, which is less than 1500 meters right?

Actually, I have noticed that they're not completely immobile.
But their top speed is very, VERY low, something like 3 m/s or similar - you're usually much better off heading for them to scoop them up even if webbed in a battleship.

P.S. Not sure on the 3 m/s thing... might have been closer to 5 m/s or so, I haven't added them to overview with speed displayed, I only roughly timed how long it took them to return when I was half-AFK.

They are immobile, or close enough as to make no difference. You have to fly within 1500m and scoop em.

Don't ignore that, I've had sentries parked right outside a POS I was shooting, and I lose control of them as they slowly drift towards the tower and eventually into the bubble Razz Moral of the story is don't drop sentries right outside a POS shield, sit back a few KM ^_^

Sentries can be extremely useful if you have the capacity - i.e. a Dominix.

Drop Sentries out for ranged attacks, as your enemy closes, or if the drones start getting targeted, instantly recall the sentries (assuming you haven't moved more than 1500m from where you dropped them).

You can then drop the sentries out again as the lock will be broken and they can recommence firing. If the enemy gets too close for the sentries to track, then pop out the Ogre IIs or whatever drones are most appropriate (lights, mediums, whatever).

The big advantages with Sentries are:

1) they don't go anywhere so you can scoop them immediately.
2) they have good DPS.

The disadvantages:
1) they don't go anywhere - meaning you can't go anywhere, or you lose advantage #1.
2) they don't track very well.
