This is similar to Amarylyn's No Limit game, with a few key differences.

And before anyone asks - yes, I did ask permission to set up a similar game.

This is a link to Amarylyn's topic - http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=876049

The main differences will be as follows:

1) The rake is set to 10% (there is a reason for the slightly higher rake).
2) There is a BONUS added onto the winnings each round that is NOT counted into the pot.
3) 25% of the rake rolls into the bonus per round.
4) If nobody wins the pot, half of it rolls into the next rounds bonus.
5) The channel for my game is Beginner No Limit

This is the first game I have attempted to run, so I chose to try one with a relatively simple system.

For more info and information on how to play, please join the channel Beginner No Limit in game.

Ineresting concept. Smile

However, I wonder; what makes this "mid stakes" compared to Amarylyn's (de facto) high stakes?

The mid stakes part comes from (In my opinion) the fact that you can win more than the total of the bets for the current round and the fact that, if you are outbid by someone who can't re-bid next round, you have a chance to win half of that total high-bid as a prize.

I see. I'm just asking because I was watching and playing a couple of games hosted by Amarylyn, and the pot easily jumps from 20 to 200 to 2000 million ISK in just a couple of rounds. It can get very scary very fast for "beginners". But I'm sure you're going to provide a fine service, just pointing this out. Very Happy

That was something I had looked at... the only way to stop that that I could come up with was to put in a "max" bid limit... like, say, a 2x pot max bid... but I don't know how effective that would be?

No no, the rapid escalation happens naturally even with minimum bids. 20 million pot, three people bid, pot is suddenly at 80. Three people bid again making the pot 320. Times four again, 1.3 billion. That's with minimum bids.

Not too sure how I'd combat that...

Uhm... oh, I know.

I can make it so the bet is 1/2 the pot. That'd help slow the exponential increase.
