I, Willem Revolati, am an addict.

What I am addicted to is a particular location in space...

'Where?' I hear you ask. The EVE Gate my friends, that is where.

It is place I go when I am confused, or when I am finding my life of pirate hunting and factional warfare particularly stressful. I guess you could call it my place of escape and refuge from the hardships of being a capsuleer.

Theres just something about the place's significance that is both fiercely overwhelming, and yet strangely comforting. I can drift for hours (might I add from a safe distance haha!) just looking at it and feeling its aura drift through my body, my mind and my ship. My neck hairs are tingling just thinking about it.

From time to time I will spot an Ammar Capsuleer nearby, who will stop ship and drift there in much the same way as I am. Normally my blood would boil and I would be on high alert if I was to spot an Ammarian ship within a hostile radius, but not here. For some reason the factional conflicts just don't seem to matter when I am here, and I am sure I am not alone in this feeling.

It changes my state of mind, and makes me feel positive about many things I would normally ignore...

I think about a time when their might actually be peace, when my enslaved brothers and sisters will be able to return home. I think about the similarities between the Gallentean and Caldari peoples and how it is such a shame they are stuck in a political war. I think about what hope there might be in the enigma that is Jovian space. And I feel sorry for the Ammar people who perhaps do not realise that they themselves are being enslaved to their own dangerous beliefs.

I can't put my finger on what it is about this place that can change my perspective in such a way.

The Gate is in appearance nothing more than a rift in space, but it just seems like it is so much more at the same time. It babbles my mind to think of what it is gateway too, do people live beyond? Have my own people ever used it?

I suppose it's beauty lies in symbolism and mystery, what lies beyond does not really matter. It serves it's purpose by just being there as a link between all the races, as a monument to some forgotten time, and as a thing of brilliance and beauty. Perhaps it is just the Universe's way of reminding us of how young and fragile we still are as a people, and how little we still know about life.

Whatever it is I will keep coming back here every once in a while.

Like I said, I am addicted.

I for one have never traveled to the EVE gate, its a shame really. I will have to devote some time to plying its mysteries myself.

I have seen images of it. It seems beautiful, and if I can find a gap in my busy schedule I'll plot a route and visit it.

I've been there twice. It really is breathtaking.

Of course, the actual stargate for that system is actually a few light years from Point Genesis itself, and I've never heard of a ship being able to get closer than about fifty AUs. Then again, up close I imagine it'd fill too much of the sky to adequately take in.

I've been to that system, once, about 1.5 years ago or so.

It's worth the trip, if only to see it from the entry point, or the only planet left in the system.

I've heard of several attempts to travel to the gate, but no capsuleer have a bookmark that will take you anywhere near, and flying to it will take...far more time than anyone have available.

Just out of curiosity, do you know if anyone has ever attempted fitting an interceptor, pointing it at the gate, and just letting the MWD launch them towards the Gate?

Yes, actually, according to what I've been told, they have. Even an interceptor traveling twice as fast as is actually possible, even with an extremely capable pilot, a fitting using the most highly tuned, rare modules and a capacitor that never runs dry it would take years and years...

Many have tried, but everyone I've heard of have given up on it after a while. It will simply require way to much time.

I have however, heard a rumor that the Sisters Of Eve know a few book-marks to the gate, as they study is periodically, and their religion or whatever revolves around the gate. I don't have much facts as I've hardly bothered with the matter, but this is what I've been told. You might want to contact the sisters to hear for yourself if this is fact or not.
