2nd is 87% effective
3rd is 54% effective

something like that.

First off. Hardeners are not additive, they're divisive.
Every hardener divides the remaining incoming damage by a certain number.

On top of that there is the stacking penalty. Your most powerful effect on a single stat is 100% effective. The second most powerful is roughly 87% effective. The third most powerful is something like 57% effective. The 4th is 28% effective and the 5th is just 10.5% effective.

If you want to know the specifics I recommend looking up Aenigma's guide to stacking (it's called something like that).

i guess my real question is whether it si better to use 2 shield hardeners or 1 shield hardeners and a resistance amplifier

Two hardeners would be better. The amp will be stacking penalized just like an additional hardener would, not to mention giving much less resistance in the first place.
